I think its funny that you guys even entertained an idiotic rumor like "Saban to UF" by starting a thread for it. Knowing that its very early, and things can change very fast, all rumors are pointing to Boise St coach Chris Petersen.

If true, I like the pick. I think his O can win in the SEC, and would be excited to see what he could do with the talent UF brings in. Which brings me to why Im not so crazy about the pick...can he recruit here? No ties to the state, or the SEC states for that matter. He has pulled a few from the south here and there, but no one that stands out. BUT, CUM (as you love to call him) didnt have any ties either...

So, heres hoping the UF/UA rivalry will be back greatness soon....

Agreed - this year's SECCG was just...well, nobody cared! I want to get back to the AL-FL annual match-up for all the marbles!

Good luck with your new coach. Not that you'll need very much....

i hope the man does get his chance cause frankly he is offensive minded defense wins SEC not offense. i believe with this tough schedule he loses at least 3 or more games a year.

This goes with my thought on how successful he would be recruiting here. In all honesty rangerman, you could be right. I believe he will have to surround himself with AC's that know how to recruit here and play SEC type D for him to be successful. The man is a proven winner where he is, so lets see if he can do it at the SEC level.

CUM stands for Coach Urban Meyer.
CNS stands for Coach Nick Saban.
CCP stands for Coach Chris Peterson.
And so on...

It's not our fault that Urban Meyer's initials don't work with the letter "C!" Haha!

the problem with this guy is one his lack of recruiting. two his offense yes he runs the spread but watch boise play what do they do 40+ times a game? pass florida doesnt have that kinda personnel on hand this or next season. sure 25 passes and 20 runs or so not 40 passes and 5 runs. balance wins in the sec not pretty passing like boise. plus you can forget about the 12 cupcake games a year to son your in big boy football now its time to man up. im interested to see his new style of offense or if its the same ole petersen.

Not so fast my friend....remember what everyone said about a certain coaches "fun and gun" offense in the SEC? Worked out pretty good for him!

I like it... it would be fun to see what he could do with SEC talent. Good Luck to you guys, Gatorfan. And here's to things getting back like they should be, with Bama and the Gators going at it for all the marbles. This year has been such a bizarre anomaly, it's like we're in the Twilight Zone or something.

lol i love how this is the only board where ppl can discuss and nobody gets offended i applaud the mods and the ppl on this board thank you for making this possible. having said that the fun and gun offense and offensive minded coaches both have one thing in common its easy to scheme against them. look at florida this year i believe myers success may have been different without tebow. and stevey well he has been irrevelant for a while. we will see how petersen does.

I have to disagree. His defense plays good considering the level of talent he gets. And look at auburn this year. A offenseive minded team can win the sec rather we waqnt to admit it or not

Lots to comment on here:

1. I'd LOVE to see CCP @ FL. It would be very interesting for sure and I think he would probably bring along some of his staff. He seems like a nice guy and if he's HONEST and has INTEGRITY that goes a long way with the Moms in the SEC!!

2. As much as I've enjoyed their demise this season (sorry GF) I want to see FL back on top in the East. For me, no one else is worthy!! Dawgs? Never enough defense. SC, Seriously? TN, we all hate the big orange (sorry VolFan1, you are the exception!). The SECCG belongs to BAMA & FL. I'm not partial or anything.

3. I have had great respect for the Gators the past few years. As much as I wanted to hate them for beating us in 2008 I still cheered them on for the NC.

Rangerman - Yes this board is wonderful. There are lots of guest fans from other teams, well except 1, who we can all get along with. It's a beautiful place this TideFans!!

CCP equals Dan Hawkins part II imho. In the SEC he won't get at least a month to gameplan for his 2 biggest games of the season (his first and his bowl game) like he does now. I think most SEC coaches now would be pretty successful if that was all they had to do and play a homecoming schedule the remainder of the year. I still think UF would be foolish to pass on Mullen.
