Question: Remember when Aubren kept their commits quiet until signing day?

I think it was mostly during the Dye years. I'm not sure what the advantage was, but I seem to remember they wanted their commits to remain silent until signing day.

Some of you other guys that followed recruiting correct me if I'm misremembering.

Maybe so that Bama coaches would waste time trying to recruit them thinking they were undecided.

I think the negative side is that one never really has a momentum. Kids follow where other kids commit to.

Well............Auburn fans do have the right the remain silent, unfortunately they simply don't the ability to do so.
Back in the day recruits didn't usually announce where they were going until signing day. There was no such thing as an early "commitment." All this early commitment stuff has just really been going on sinced maybe the early 90's.

Yeah it seems early commitments is the trend these days. Great day......here in Texas UT wraps up recruiting a good 6 months before signing day.
