BREAKING Reported Florida Offers Kiffin

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I don’t know to be honest.

But what’s going on today is wild speculation and guesses based on nothing really.

Florida may want Kiffin and he may end up going there at the end of the season but there is no way there is a firm offer being made right now.
I would not be so quick to say "no way" in the current environment; Sexton is going to do what he does

Probably so, but what he's done with UF, Miami and FSU in the region is pretty admirable. I think he must be a pretty good coach. If they struck out a few times, maybe?

Some people close to the program have suggested they're not going to "settle" for a G6 guy this go around

But that seems short-sighted to eliminate some guys just because Billy didn't last. Golesh's attitude has way more moxy than Napier's, USF plays really tough and physical, and Tenn's offense hasn't been nearly as explosive since he left there (could just be personnel-related, but who knows)

This is the key, and it's why we'll never actually know what's going on. That number could be a leak from Sexton's direction more than the school's for all we know

I can't see Kiffin giving them an answer before the season's over, with a CFP spot on the table AND without knowing how LSU's season and coaching situation unfold

  • Thank You

Yea, I think this is a case of writers making the news. Lane very well may be their number one target and there may be discussions amongst agents but media is out there making their own news everyday, especially in the sports business. That said, I am probably wrong.

Here are the last 5 coaches and their records...other than Urban Meyer none had "great" success: (from chatgpt.com.)

CoachTenureOverall record
Billy Napier (2022–2025)22-23 CBS Sports+3Reuters+3Wikipedia+3
Dan Mullen (2018–2021)34-15 Wikipedia+2Florida Gators+2
Jim McElwain (2015–2017)22-12 ESPN.com+2Wikipedia+2
Will Muschamp (2011–2014)28-21 University of South Carolina Athletics+1
Urban Meyer (2005–2010)Approximately 80-15 (about six seasons)

Mullen came close to working out.

2018-2019 They finished in the Top 10 Back to Back.

Then in 2020 they were #7 at 8-2 going into the SECCG and those 2 losses were by a combined 6 points.

They dropped 46 points on us but unfortunately for Mullen the #1 All-Time NCAA Offense scored more.

They fell off a cliff and got Hammered by OU in the Bowl game and then went 5-6 in 2021.

So from 29-7 heading into that 2020 SECCG to 34-15 after going 5-8 in those final 13 games.

He really walked a tightrope from almost breaking through to a higher plateau to just face planting.

Don't forget he has reconciled with his ex Layla; who is a Florida grad and daughter of Florida QB John Reaves. So, there is a connection there.

I never felt that Dan Mullen fit the UF "culture." He gives off the aura of a backwoods redneck who knew one good offensive system. He should never have left Mississippi State as he fit there to a "T." It all caught up with him and down he went. Even great coaches have down years and if the coach doesn't have the fanbase believing that he is "one of them" then his goose is cooked, literally.

LK is a pretty boy to be sure...by the 3rd year he should be in the SEC Championship game @ UF. I, for one, hope he doesn't go. He's left more schools in the lurch than Pavia or Aguilar.

Honestly, who else is Florida going to go after? There’s so many power five openings and not many big name coaches that have proven they can win on the big stage.
