You have to do a pretty bad job of directing to take a true story and turn it into something that doesn't seem believable. That's exactly what John Lee Hancock did with "The Blind Side."

The moral of the story, the way it's potrayed, even the acting, are above par. But certain scenes, like the head coach answering his cell phone during a game and listening to advice from Leigh Anne Tuohy, or Michael Oher driving a defensive end 70+ yards downfield and throwing him over a fence, make the movie far-fetched. One of the most unbelievable is when Sandra Bullock threatens a Ganglord and calls him a B**** in front of everyone in his neighborhood. Yeah, that would happen in Memphis. If I want to see a fictional sports movie, I'll go watch Major League, or Rookie of the Year.

If I'm watching 2012, or The Day After Tommorrow, I can handle hokey. I expect it. But when I'm watching a sports movie, I expect authentic, and the Blind Side failed me.

It's good enough to see, but I'd save my money and wait 'til it comes out on DVD.

I disagree. Great movie - well worth your movie theatre dollars, in my opinion. The point/plot of the movie was accurate...to let a few scenes (which may or may not have happened) dictate an overall review of this film as 'wait for the dvd' is harsh [and rare for this movie inparticular].

Go see it.

I'm not suggesting it wasn't good, just not overly spectacular. For me personally, a movie has to be a can't miss to spend $20+ bucks in the theater. I just don't understand why they'd take a good story and add so many over-the-top scenes in it. The story was good enough before having to fictionalize it.

This is the reason I rarely and I mean rarely go see movies at the "picture show". Most movie today are more about graphics and are horrible on substance.

Some movies are meant for the big screen, Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, The Dark Knight, and more recently Avatar. And those are the ones I don't mind spending money on. But for the most part, and I know everyone doesn't feel this way, if I'm going to spend $20+ on a movie, I'd rather just wait for it to come out on DVD and own it for the same price.

I quit going to movies long ago because of the absolute crapshoot it is to see a good movie. I never buy them for the same reason. We always just wait until they come on HBO or Showtime.

From looking a the movie poster, I thought it was a remake of Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. I'm sure the real Michael Oher likes his movie stand-in: :)

Hey Hey Hey.

And, Sandra Bullock is still one of the most annoying persons on the face of the planet. Though, legions of women want to be her, and want to look like her. And all I have to hear is 5 seconds of that annoying voice, and it's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

You beat me to it, Slab. If there is a Sandra Bullock movie on, I run from the room. She is way overrated as an actress and a beauty.

Her breakout role in Speed was nothing but annoying .... the whiny, idiot hero doesn't work for me.

I've had this discussion with Ms. Slab. She is almost to the point of getting p.o.'d at me for even insinuating that Sandra B. isn't the cutest thing on the planet. She tells me, "Oh, every woman wants to be like her." I tell her, "What? Annoying, whiney, never shutting up?"

Yes, she is attractive, but, like someone said of a very attractive female we went to college with, "She's the best looking thing in the world until you hear that voice."

Sandra Bullock is from Northern Virginia, so being here I'm supposed to revere her. A few months ago the subject came up at work, and I voiced my opnion that I thought she was a mediocre actress and nothing special to look at. The women in the office thought I was some sort of monster for thinking that way.

I then wondered aloud what diseases she had via husband Jesse James via porn stars. So, yeah, that was a fun day at work. ;)

.
I respect your opinion and will die for your right to express it. I saw Blind Side for the first time last night. This morning I viewed all the 20/20 snippets on abc.com. I did not see the 20/20 show on the 29th. I must say that I was very moved by the story, sometimes to tears. It captured my imagination and stirred my emotions. I would give the movie a big thumbs up. I thought Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw did an outstanding job of portraying the characters of Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy. I left the movie entertained and with a feeling of greatfulness for what the Tuohy's did for Michael Oher and for how Michael Oher worked hard and took advantage of an opportunity to better his life. Somehow I feel that the world is a better place because somebody saw a need and opened up their heart to that need and in the process became blessed for it.

Her father is from Alabama. A linguist expert for the Pentagon I believe.
