Robert Lester - inside track for starting position with the Panthers

"Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman added several pieces in free agency, and picked up a couple of intriguing undrafted prospects in Alabama safety Robert Lester and Louisiana Lafayette corner Melvin White.
Lester, who won two national titles with the Crimson Tide, looked good in the rookie minicamp, and could challenge at the up-for-grabs safety spot opposite Charles Godfrey..."

When I heard about this pick I had no doubt Robert would contend. If he carries the same work ethic to the Panthers it will be a slam dunk. We need him and I can't wait to see him succeed at this level!

i don't like Cammy Cam but hey Lester is one of us & remember he came back for his senior season.

Robert's 40 time cost him quite a bit, but in reality, a safety, even in the NFL, doesn't have to be a burner. A great safety has to have the ability to play center field, read the Quarterbacks eyes, and break quickly on the ball no matter where and when it's thrown deep. Thus the reason they're called "Safety". He's as good as any other safety in the draft when it comes to those three credentials. And he has shown a great nose for the ball with his interceptions.
I won't be surprised if he does indeed win the starting job and I wish him the very best of luck. Very under rated in my opinion. He contributed greatly to our championships. sip
