Robert Marve and Sherod Murdock pondering Tide commitments

Re: Robert Marve and Sherod Murdock

Looks like Marve and Murdock might rethink their commitments. I hate to see it I was really looking forward to seeing both of them in Tuscaloosa.

If they don't want to wear crimson then why do we care! I believe if they want to play at Bama they will wait and see who the next HC will be. If they just don't wait, then its no big loss b/c their heart's not in it.

Don't give up on Robert Marve and Sherod Murdock just yet

Hillsborough Co. standouts pondering Tide commitments
The oral commitments of Plant quarterback Robert Marve and Middleton defensive back Sherod Murdock to Alabama became iffy propositions Monday morning when they got the news coach Mike Shula had been fired.

"It was kind of a shock," said Marve, who committed to the Tide several months ago. "I wish that hadn't happened but I understand these things happen in (major college football). ...

"But right now, really, it's not a big deal. I have two weeks of high school football to play and that's where the focus is. Dec. 10 (the day after the Class 4A state championship in Miami) is when I'll start looking at all that (college recruiting) stuff."

Shula Gone - Marve And Murdock Are Probably Next

Could not believe the local (Tampa) paper this morning. We may have just lost the best QB in the south.

Marve’s team is focused on hosting Miami Booker T. Washington in the Class 4A region semifinals this Friday, but Panthers coach Robert Weiner said Shula’s departure will affect his quarterback’s college decision.
“Not only did he have a good relationship with Coach Shula, but he learned they were good people. There have been people in the college recruiting game that haven’t been honest, and there is always double-dealing going on, but everything with Alabama was up front, genuine, and honest,” Weiner said. “The only thing he’s thinking about right now is beating Booker T. Washington. We will listen to other possibilities and see who else is out there, but one thing he now has is a chance to enjoy being recruiting and taking trips, so that could be a good thing.

Man, I was hoping to see him in T-Town. I think he is going to be special. Hopefully we can get the right person in here to sway him back to us! Thank goodness we have a little time to signing day.

Recruiting was one area where Coach Shula was doing a good job. He was really building up for the future. Changing coaching staff always disrupts the relationships that have been established with the key high school coaches and players. Depending on the part of the country that he is from, our new coach may have to start from scratch in recruiting Alabama and the South.

Ok Dr. your telling me that if you were a top name recruit you would just wait to see while the school your committed to looks for a coach. If he waits and this takes a little while then his other chances may pass him by. You have to understand this is possibly his career he cant just sit and wait till we get our act together. Wearing crimson doesnt mean what it used to it now means that you play for 3 different coaches in your college career, i dont know if i would want to come and play for that either.

This kind of stuff is to be expected when you have a coaching change. We will lose some commitments and we will keep some. Some commitments may not fit the new coaches system. We will also gain some recruites that we would not have gotten if Shula had stayed around. No need to panic yet. Signing day is in February. ;)

No,and if you think this coach decision will last thru jan. then you are naive. IMO,the HC will be named prior to jan before the last visit periods. I don't think any top rated recruit will be passed by before JAN. To be honest, your statement is not well thought out.

Really can't blame recruits for having second thoughts when they have reason to wonder how many HC's they will be playing for in 4-5 years at Bama.
