Sadly this seems indicative of the way politics is covered now. Like a sports game. No matter how complicated/nuanced the story actually is, the networks feel compelled to announce a winner ASAP and move on to the next missing white woman with a suspicious husband. It's like political contests were overtime football games, and they assume we'll revolt if they say, "Hey, we'll let you know who won this tomorrow."
To be fair, it's probably as much our fault as theirs. I know PBS is far more cautious about its coverage and look at all the viewers they get. Heck, I'm a boring old fart who likes to read physical books, with actual pages, and sometimes PBS bores even me.
