Roster Management for 24-25

I agree on Nelson. He's been, as you say, MIA at times.

I thought he'd be an All-SEC type of player but I think the SEC athleticism overwhelmed him at times.

If he can resurrect this 3 point shot, he becomes very, very dangerous with his driving-to-the-basket ability and length.

But something happened during the season with his shot and he lost confidence in it. Seemed like he was guiding the 3 ball instead of just shooting it. But even his free throws aren't as dependable now.

IDK, but if he comes back and improves his shooting, his defense and maybe adds some muscle he could really make an even bigger impact next year.
I honestly hoped he would be more like Knecht from Tennessee has been playing. It's like if he's not the man, he kinda regresses ... Hopefully he can work on that over thr summer but no better time to come of of his shell than the upcoming game against UNC :)

Some are starting to think Sears could get an UDFA deal. Some teams might try to see if his game will translate. IDK how he gets half of his point driving among the trees with almost all of his shots getting contested, but HE DOES.

But he could also come back (with a 6th year available as I understand it) and give the NBA another whole year to look at his game.

If not? I think CNO probably needs to go to the portal. Good news, there's got to be a quality PG somewhere in America that would absolutely LOVE to play in CNO's offensive system.

Also, consider CNO is proving to be a savant in picking guys from the portal that perfectly fit his system. Our top scorers this year are all from the portal: Sears, Nelson, Estrada and Wrightsell.
They are pushing the whole UDFA thing after his performance from the last game. I would encourage him to stay thr course and just focus on developing his skills next year where he would have a better shot at being drafted in the first round.

Pundints pushing the UDFA route is pretty much admitting he's not ready to be drafted yet imo.

Maybe we will see a Sears-like improvement from him in Year 2 if he stays for his final year, which I think he probably needs to.

I hope so, if he can put it together, he's an easy first round pick. And that can actually work to both Sears and Nelson's benefit next season. Sears doesn't have to lead us in scoring, he just needs to show he can play D and command the offense.

If he can become a double-double guy with either assists, steaks or rebounds, Sears will be drafted. Same goes for Nelson.

Wrightsell isn’t a true PG. who is the main ball handler if Sears leaves?
Estrada leads the team in assists (4.7 per game - highest average since Kira Lewis). I would say Sears is our primary scorer, although he averages 4.2 assists per game. We don't really have a PG in the fashion of a John Stockton type guy, and I don't know what one would do in this offense. Kira was probably the last point guard we had.

If Rylan and Wrightsell come back, along with Houston Mallette, we'll be fine. And then there's Reid as well.

Can you please post the Power Ball numbers for Saturday's drawing?:)

Love the size. If we are in it for him CNO sees great potential for him fitting our scheme.

We've had a lot of posts on the possibility that most of our roster returns. But if all these offers are legit, CNO knows differently.

It's always good to have a back-up plan with the nature of the portal in college athletics. I don't think it hurts to contact as many good players as you "might" need even if you don't need them.
