I believe to the current student body this is our second biggest rivalry behind Auburn. This is becoming a fun rivalry not filled with hate yet.
I disagree. I think there are plenty of Corndogs that circle this game more than any other with plenty of hate towards Bama. What makes it worse is that even though this game has now become their pinnacle game of the year since more than likely it decides the West and usually has NC implications, it still isn't our most important game. Obviously that game for us is the Iron Bowl. I think that makes it harder for them to digest.

This game for me is kind of like the Miami/FSU series in the nineties. I watched it every year because it usually had an affect on the NC picture one way or another. Of course I watch this series through crimson colored glasses...
As a Vandy fan I view the Bama/LSU game as the biggest game of the year in the SEC most years for the past seven or so years. What two coaches in the SEC have coached against each other for almost 10 years with high rankings most years? This coaching rivalry might go down in SEC history as one of the best ever if it continues another five plus years. What two SEC coaches have ever faced each other in a National Championship game? It's a rare coaching rivalry to enjoy with two complete opposite personalities. A rivalry you don't realize how special it is until its gone.
Two teams not just in the same conference, but the same division. What a unique NC Bama has against LSU, very rare between Saban and Miles.

To me, they were always just another team we beat every year, until Saban came along and made them a great program. Then, to me, they just became a really tough team we had to play every year, with limited success. I still didn't view them as a rival, as in hated rival like Auburn and Tennessee. However, my son has spent most of his life in Louisiana (Shreveport). Growing up, he talked too much smack to LSU fans when we were about to play them, and always paid the cost when we lost. He hates LSU more than any other team just due to his experiences with their fans. I am not a big smack talker, so I always had good exchanges with mostly decent fans and do not view them the same way. Now, in the southern part of the state, the LSU fans are quite a bit more rabid, and not nearly as pleasant to deal with.

It's a big game every year, but I don't know about it being a rivalry. Kind of one-sided if you ask me. Personally I miss the Gerry Dinardo days.
I agree. Alabama is an annual rival to every team in the SEC West. LSU has been a more important game in recent years owing to the strength of their teams, but not a true rival; it still hurts much more to lose to Tennessee or Auburn.
