Enjoy it because you're not promised it's going to continue. I started truly following Bama football at the tail end of their last real success and that was the 92 championship team. Shortly after that it all went to Hades in a hand basket and it seemed like it happened over night.
Fortune can sure change quick. Seemed like everytime we were poised for sustained success, boom! we either lost a coach (Arnsparger) and replaced him with someone not ready (Archer) hired an imbecile (Hallman) or had a coach make just one or two fatal decsions (Dinardo, wouldn't hire qualified Co-ordiantors).

It's a quick trip from the penthouse to the outhouse, that's why you won't catch me getting arrogant!!

'63 just curious, but what was the LSU fanbase like before CNS, as far as passion? Would you say it was at the level it is now, or lower/higher? Not trying to pick a fight, just genuinely curious. :)
Dude I have been living in this crap hole since 93 and I can offer some insite into their so called packed house.... They couldn't give the tickets away before CNS came there, they used to go around the bases much like the Saints tickets before they started enjoying mediocre success and give bundles of tickets away trying to get people to show up.... So don't be fooled into thinking they have been this way down here for decades only when their teams have success do they back them for the most part... Oh sure they have a couple thousand die hard tigger and saints fans but the minute they start losing its free ticket central...
Only since CNS arrived here were the car tags and flags flying as well but it will come to an end real soon and not just by BAMA but they will lose games this year at least 3 and the wheels will start to come off then see what happens...

Well as an Alabama fan I can certianly understand this post! Lost a coach (Stallings) and replaced him with someone not ready (Dubose and Shula), hired a liar (Franchione), or a coach who made fatal decisions (Price). It's definitely a quick trip!

Interesting. I would like to hear from LSU63 or another LSU fan to confirm or disagree with your statements.

Sure, I'll respond to this post. Check the records, LSU has been in the top 10 in attendance 43 of the last 50 years. Since we've been winning alot have we picked up some bandwagon fans? Sure, everybody does, including Bama. I have a friend at work who was a big Bama fan until the lean years, now he won't talk football with me, "He's a NASCAR man now" But this never was Miss. St. or Vandy, or even Ark. He lived their? Bid whoop, I wore the uniform, and I know what I'm talking about. It took the final year in the Hallman era for attendance to drop significantly.

I usually won't respond to a hater who calls my state "crap" How old are you chief? 16 or 17?

For all of the people who think that we didn't exist before CNS and we're going to fall of the planet now that he's gone, I have some advice. Get some hot sauce, it'll make that crow you're gonna eat go down better. I have no doubt that CNS will make Bama a regular contender, look at what's happening. Look also at what's happening at LSU, we ain't going nowhere.

REAL BANDWAGON fans generally wear some combination of urnge and blue. When the barn isn't doing so well you can hear crickets in Jerkin' Hair Stadium. They win a few games and the smell of moth balls wafting from the plains will make your eyes water.

Why is it that any thread that even remotely mentions LSU, degenerates into a pithing contest? :conf2: Back on topic..........I think CNS may be the first coach since CGS to not only realize the potential of the fans, but to effectively tap into it. Indeed, I believe some of the "coaches", if you care to put franchione in that group, seem to be seriously intimidated by it..........to the point of letting it get to them.

I think it takes a certain kind of personality to not only refuse to be intimidated by it, but to embrace it. Nick Saban fits that mold. It will be interesting to see how it all works out........and it will be interesting to see how he uses that power. So far it looks like he not only knows how to use i, but also, what it's worth.

Coaching at Bama is absolutely a job that requires a REAL man. Not for the sensitive or squeamish.

Nick Saban was the perfect fit for what Alabama needed. While arguments as to the best coaches will go on and on, CNS is defintely the right man at the right time.

You're a good man 63 and always welcome here. I live in your "crap" state and about the only true "crap" thing about it is the tax structure. The income tax and other tax structure is simply unfair and is robbing the average taxpayer. The fishing is great, food is great and some good people live here.

Keep coming back.

What happened to the rest of your post? Do you recognize 12 NC's for Alabama? Because if you do, one of them is the 41 NC when bama was 9-2. I'm going to claim 2007. I don't disparage your program, ls poo?
I wish Bama didn't claim '41. IMO, it is the only one where there is not a legitimate claim. I would rather claim '45 or '66 or '77 or just leave it at 11. But it has been printed on too many things to disown :).

There is no way to dispute or even question LSU's 2007 claim. Plus Bama fans owe you one for your help in '65.

Yeah, '41 is total crap. I have no idea why we even claim it. I have no problem with the other eleven, I believe they are all legitimate, but the '41 deal is ridiculous. We may as well crown our 2007 team national champs.

I don't see why we don't claim '45, '66, or '77 instead. We have much more valid claims on all three, going a combined 32-1 in those years.

Isn't it wonderfull that these days there isn't any doubt or arguing over who belongs in the NC game, or who is the NC?
