I'll give a few unusual names and you can add your own.
Let's vote for the coolest school nickname.
Let's also vote for the most unusual nickname.

A few are:
Alabama School for the Deaf - Silent Warriors
Alexandria - Valley Cubs
Alma Bryant - Hurricanes
Ariton - Purple Cats
Clements - Colts
Daleville - Warhawks (tidehawk might like this one)
Decatur - Red Raiders
Fayette County - Tigers (this one is for Bamatusc)
Frisco City - Whippets (Yes! I said Whippets!)
Gordo - Green Wave
Hewitt-Trussville - Huskies
Highland Home - Flying Squadron
Holt - Ironmen
Holy Family - Tornadoes
Indian Springs - none (They don't have a nickname on the books!)
Lanier, Sydney - Poets (ouch!)
Paint Rock Valley - Pirates
Parrish - Purple Tornadoes
Satsuma - Gators
Shades Valley - Mounties
South Lamar - Stallions
Sparkman - Senators
St Clair County - Fighting Saints (Isn't that wrong?

)
Tanner - Rattlers
Woodlawn - Colonels

Just a few to vote on!

Dangit, I should have put this all in one post, but, oh well. The Flomaton High School football team is also known as the Hurricanes, just like Alma Bryant. Another one from a few years ago no longer in existence (because they are part of Alma Bryant) is the Alba Sharks down in Bayou La Batre, AL. They used to have a field announcer that would say "Get'm JAWS!"

I BLEED CRIMSON!

A few to add to the list: the Bogalusa (LA) Lumberjacks. Hometown of former Tide QB, Terry Davis.

Also, the Mesa High (AZ) Jack rabbits, the Kosciusko (MS) Greyhounds, and the Coffeeville (MS) Grinders (just kidding on the last one).

I don't know if this school still exists, but they were a basketball powerhouse in the mid-70s: Was it Parker or Hayes Thundering
Herd? I want to say Parker was the Thundering Herd. Somebody help me out on this one.

I wouldn't be loyal if I didn't add my alma mater--Austin High Black Bears (Decatur, AL)

I'm stalling on my vote until I see more entries.

RTR!

It is hard to be humble when you're from ALABAMA.

Cairo High (pronounced "Kayro" like the corn syrup, not like the Egyptian capital) in Georgia is the "Syrupmakers". I haven't decided if that is cool or stupid.

Those Syrupmakers can play some football, though!

Being a Monroe County native, I have to give a vote to the Frisco City Whippets. Sort of like a greyhound, but smaller.

The Silent Warriors of ASD is far and away the coolest.

Honorable mention: Slocomb Red Tops, Highland Home Flying Squadron, Ariton Purple Cats

Seems there used to be a team from the Chattanooga, Tn area called the Central Purple Pounders. Not sure they are still in existence. (Question, what is a Purple Pounder?

)

The Silent Warriors is really neat and I would have to give that my vote also.

You gotta love Arabian Knights as a cool name.

We broke the O-34 streak last week, beating county rival Albertville 28-15.
