Scott Cochran destroys last year's runner-up trophy with a sledgehammer!

He's the most valuable assistant coach we have. Nobody could ever replace him.

I’m guessing the button on the desk gets pushed twice tomorrow morning. Once for CSC and once for JJ. I get the symbolism and the motivation, but it needed to stay in the locker room.

CNS may have already been informed prior to this?

CSC did nothing wrong. He is the best at what he does. The whole thing had to have fired up our players.

I don’t think the trophy getting smashed is an issue at all. It going public probably will be. That’s not exactly the way you want the program presented right before the biggest stage in the sport and leading up to signing day.

I agree and CSC probably would too. He wasn't responsible for showing the inner workings of the locker room.

Do they actually give out trophies to the national runner up? My initial thought was that they don't and that this was a trophy Saban or Cochran had made in the off season to motivate this team all year. If that's the case, smashing it up seems like the right thing to do before the title game.

I may be mistaken but I think if you don't win it all, you at least get one saying you got there. Which is the equivalent of a runner up trophy.
