A player entering the portal tends to pen a lengthy social media post, first going through a long list of all the things he appreciates about his current school, then, before the actual announcement, almost invariably writing, "With that being said..."
I'd hate to count how many times "with that being said" (or similar like "having said that") is used in forum posts. Sometimes it only takes a post with only two sentences. I don't know why, but it raises my pet peeve meter every time I see it. Now if I can avoid using it myself...

Could they (DeBoer and Sheridan) have done more to adjust? Yeah, I'm sure they could. I just argue that marrying themselves to Milroe severely limited any adjustments they could have made and it have any long-term difference. Teams had figured out how to stop Milroe. Stack the box, take away our running game, and begin to mix coverages to confuse Milroe and you had us. It's easy to say run play action but play action only works if you're running the ball effectively, which we couldn't. Our Oline was so inconsistent and Milroe had zero idea how to adjust protection pre snap.

When teams realize your QB can't read a defense, it severely shrinks the adjustments available for a staff to make. Again, the defense was shooting fish in a barrel.
People keep saying we couldn’t run the ball effectively, but I don’t think we ever really tried. Our offense was solely focused on Milroe. Jam and Haynes were criminally underused.

I do remember earlier in the season when we thought JM might have turned a corner that when we did try to establish the run we were left with a lot a 1st and long and second a long situations. Basically, when we tried to run it most of the time we got behind the sticks and then it left "3rd and Nilroe" and that didn't work out against the better teams.

Not disputing Jam & Haynes were underused, but I also don't remember a lot of dynamic plays. I'm sure we had a few long runs for TDs, but none that I remember, especially at critical times.

I wonder how long this goes on before it's evident Grubb isn't coming to Tuscaloosa? I give it a 20% chance it happens.
Last I heard we still have an OC. I doubt anything changes. Even if it did, why would Sheridan stay on after getting demoted? Or is it everyone's assumption he would get fired? Frankly I would like to see what Sheridan can do without one hand tied behind his back.

IDK i think it’s kinda like the Pruitt craze. People convince themselves that only one guy can run a thing effectively, only one guy is a logical fit, and that one guy is available makes people forget about the other evidence pointing against it. People also are forgetting that Shephard is the Co OC but everyone wants to dump everything on Sheridan when something goes wrong offensively. Another point is that Offensively minded HC are mostly their own OC as Defensively minded HCs are mostly their own DC.

I think people should really focus on the ability to get Huff over Grubb if that is possible. Because I guarantee you that is a bigger game changer in the long run.

I don’t think Kapilovic is that bad. I like how he tried substituting players to find the best combo.
Looking at the stats, it is noticeable how bad Pritchet was, but he is no longer with the team and Formby was probably not ready last year (he was not ready during the USF game).
It will be interesting to see how Alabama OL will play with a more traditional QB next year

I think Grubb had a two year contract (not sure). If that is the case, he certainly shouldn’t be in a hurry to find work anywhere. Wait and see what plays out over next few weeks. Never know. May land with another NFL team.

Jurys still out of kap, cant really blame him for pritchetts lack of progress that probably falls on the player. Formby and genos development over the season went uncalled about and proctors continued progress as well. We will know more next year.

Has been an effective recruiter

I understand people want to see what Sheridan can do as OC but In 2021 when Sheridan was let go he went 2-10, the Indiana Hoosiers football team's offense averaged 175.5 yards per game passing. The team's passing statistics were 390 attempts, 199 completions, with 9 tds and 15 interceptions, ranking 124th in the nation in total offense. They had a passing percentage of 51.0%. I’m not blaming him only for this year because we know the limitations of milroe, but the last 2 seasons as an OC have not been very inspiring. Sheridan was thrown in to this position. I don’t think he can adjust very well to what happens during a game. Sheridan had Penix jr at Indiana and I know he got injured later in the year, but he was not good at Indiana and when phenix went to Washington he bloomed under deboer and Grubb.

Maybe so but he didn't have SEC type talent at IU either. Let's see what he can do with a true qb before we get out the pitch forks.

I respect your opinion, but this is not the program to repeat failed experiments. Good coach's don't need elite talent to be a good coach, it's time to bring a successfully proven play caller.
