Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about that.

We don't have as many scholarships to offer this year. I believe I have read anywhere between 17 to 19. I am sure one of the moderators can give us an accurate number.

Anyway, CMS will be very, very selective in the scholarships that are offered this year. As BEATtutorsee said, I wouldn't worry about it.

I believe the scholarship number is 17. And, as bamabryan said, Shula will be very selective on who he takes. And I believe a couple commits are not too far off.

Sometimes though, a bird in hand is better than two in the bush, or fish instead of cutting bait. Don't we have a few studs that are very much interested in Bama? I'm just simply saying that there is such a thing as waiting too late to offer. It's happened a few times before over the last few years.

From my observation if its a bama kid, or a kid the staff has a relationship with via their football camps and they concider them quality D1 material they will take them early, but I expect Shula will be later and later with signing his class as he goes up against the bigger competition.

I truely believe the Andre Smith signing will open the door for us to an even higher level of recruit, you want those doors open because you need those occasional studs like Shawn Alexander or Andre Smith, you make your living with the 4 star rank and file, but the all world players are ones that pull a win out of a loss with a super human play, its just a crap shoot as to which 5 star recuits will become those special players.

I'm not really concerned but I wish we could do the bulk of our recruiting in May, June and July like Texas and UGA. That would allow us to focus on the big guys later and give us something to sell recruits

I was amazed last year at how many recruits felt that they needed continual attention even after giving a verbal committment - like they were being disrespected or something. (This comment based on recruiting in general and not aimed at either AL or FL.) Just the impression I got fromt he various quotes and sound bites. If I were a recruit and signed with AL or FL or anyone, I would want the coaches to focus on bringing in the best players to make the team even stronger and increase my chances of a title, championship or just a few more wins- but that may just be me.

It does seem like an early Tebow or Smith (had he done it for AL last year) would be a selling point to other top recruits. On the other hand, I have heard that once a player committs the pressure is turned up by rival schools. In addition, other recruits may look and see a lot of talent already comitted for their position and decide to try an easier route at another school. On the downside, there are a lot of players that come of age in their sr years and if you fill your class to early then you may miss out on some top talent.

Well generally speaking, the best recruits usually wait till the very end to make a decision. This is why USC had very few commits early on, because they were going after the best players in the country. There's always occasions where a top flight player will commit early on, but they're not the norm.

Are we supposed to be worried about recruiting already? It's not even January yet.
Well, I wouldn't say anybody should be worried by any means, but recruiting is a year round thing now a days.
