This one hurts not gonna lie. We had the double bye. Had a dream draw on paper at least. One win and we are in the Semis - then Oats’ breaks out one of the most bizarre rotations I’ve seen in a long time.

I was looking that up when I heard them say he was from France.

I think he’s only 22 though. He was 16-17 around that time I think.
That's the European pattern. It's the same in soccer and tennis. If they show real promise, they pull them out of school and place them in a pro situation - with a full-time coach in individual sports like golf and tennis and in development leagues in team sports. I don't understand the NCAA attitude in ignoring that, while punishing Bediako for having a two-way contract. If he'd ever been called up, even for one play, I'd agree with them. It's a distinction without a real difference...

Do you think the same thing does not go on in the U.S. with talented kids?? How many football players have we signed from IMG Academy that came from low income families? You know what the tuition would be if they had to pay it? Tennis phenoms that go there. Basketball players on AAU teams funded by shoe companies. It's ubiquitous

It's not as ubiquitous. They aren't even wedded to a K-12, + university. Almost everywhere, you take an exam to see if you go on to gymnasium (or whatever it's called in that country and which is HS + two years of university) and then on to university. Everyone who doesn't make the cut goes to vocational school. Excelling at sports heads you in the vocational direction. The problem is that it just doesn't match up with our K-12 + university system. And I don't think going to IMG, or a similar institution, equates to playing full time in a development league at all, with absolutely no academics...

Out of the country...couldn't watch.

But sounds like we got beat by a hot shooting rebel team and we couldn't make the open shots that could have turned the tide.

A 3 point team that goes cold and plays mediocre defense won't win in March.

I missed the first half and we were already behind. We made a few runs in the second but it seemed like every time we were close they made a crazy shot to keep the gap. I thought we had a chance at the end with the ball. Too many missed 3 pt shots killed us. Wrightsell has to be better. If we shoot our normal percentage we win.

It's hard to believe that the two byes didn't hurt us in the end. We definitely looked rusty, and the lineups Nate played definitely didn't seem to mesh all that well. And, finally, the officiating. Sherrell should have had FTs with seconds left...

Absolutely. Your team did well.
Whatver dude. You already said you don’t watch ball and it certainly shows. But you keep coming back at this for some reason. I’ve been one of the biggest Bama fans in the world since birth. Used to have season tix in football, been to countless basketball games, crud been to 3 SEC tournaments. Have had 2 sons go to UA with one there right now. But whatever makes you feel better while you cope.

Team stunk last night. Refs missed a lot of obvious calls but called things against Bama. But overall Bama played bad. It happens.

As far as rotation CNO had to try things. Allen was just awful costing points on both ends. Luckily his play last couple weeks probably means draft isn’t an option and should come back. Rotations due to poor play and effort. Williamson played better than him and Wrightsell for that spurt and brought energy at least. Holloway I think still gave his normal full effort but made some bad choices and was just off offensively. Think I heard Philon was not feeling well so maybe tried to buy him minutes till back end of game. Idk.

Disappointing game by older guys especially now that’s it’s tourney time. Hopefully catch a spark in first round.

Enjoy your insights on basketball! Keep 'em coming!

This team will go as far as Philon. He’s the only player whose offensive game makes up for his defensive shortcomings.

Rebounding is want to, and it seems the only thing these guys want to do is try to put the ball in the basket. Lot of watching shots on the offensive end, I was guilty of the same, but I was playing park ball and not getting paid tons of money.

The contact really affected the interior game, 8-22 on layups is what I saw. That can’t happen anymore. Get out the dust brooms, pool noodles, whatever it takes and start whacking these guys in drills during practice. Something has got to give, and it’s been proven ad nauseum that Oats teams will not get the call.

Take it easy. I was just joking around. I didn’t really think you were an Ole Miss fan.

I do watch basketball I just admitted I don’t follow Ole Miss closely and had to take your word for it.

Good morning - tough loss last night - sorry. Really thought I'd see you guys in the Finals. Maybe against us. It won't be as much fun now, for me, but let's see what happens in the dance - I still think you're a FF team, FWIW.

RTR!

I was only able to watch the early part of the game. After seeing the final score, I did not go back to watch the later part of the game. What I saw early was the refs were allowing Ole Miss defensive players to reach way out when an Alabama player was driving past them. Even when the Ole Miss player's feet were completely out of position and it was solid contact with the arm and shoulder by the defender, no foul was called. As bad as it has been all year, this early part of the game looked even worse as far as the no-calls.

Ole Miss was hot early and took a nice lead. It was good to see that Alabama got back into the game with a chance to win but frustrating that it came down to having too deep of a hole to dig out of. Time to put some back-to-back wins together next week. RTR

Alabama had a charge called on them when the defender had a foot in the air when contact was made.

They still missed seven free throws, so I can’t throw this on the refs.

I say the double bye is a net negative.

But someone made the point that it seems Nate has reduced emphasis on the SECT as it seems to have had little relevance to seeding in the NCAAT. Not sure I buy that as falling from a 3 to a 4 in this NCAAT probably guarantees an earlier exit unless the team catches fire.
