News Article: selmaborntidefan & Elefantman & other TideFans quoted in IndyStar article today (12/30/25)

I guess he's trying to get Indiana motivated in some way by using the "no respect" strategy. They had lost 30 in a row to Ohio State so they had enough motivation for that game. Since our players had not made any comments he felt he had to dig into a football forum to find BB material. I'm sure we also could find some disrespectful comments made by Indiana fans about Alabama as well.

This isn't the first time Gregg Doyel got himself in the middle of controversy. He got into some hot water over a comment he made to Caitlin Clark last year at her introductory press conference. He was suspended for 2 weeks and banned from attending their games last season.

Banned from wnba games? Is that really a punishment?

Another reason to move the bowl games if we aren't going to fix the college football calendar...

Schedule most of the bowl games around spring break weeks, featuring interesting out-of-conference matchups to generate interest for the upcoming season. This gives fans a chance to schedule their spring vacations around the bowl games, encouraging more participation via extra time to plan and better weather. Reduce the number of post-season bowl games to a single-digit number, so the dynamic returns to what it was before the proliferation of meaningless bowl games, making it a tangible reward for only quality teams. You basically want just enough that all the ranked teams that didn't make the CFP have a bowl game to play.

You'd end up with two bowl seasons (TV $$$) without having to water down either. Allow teams who don't get invited to a bowl to schedule an opponent for their spring game instead of a bowl.
I like it…

OK just got a response. My email and the response:

Good afternoon Gregg,

Saw your article and just want to say I enjoy the Tide Fans forum very much, even though I am a Florida grad and Gator fan. I have been a member there for 14 years with now over 41K posts!

My handle is Bazza.

I post in many of the forums in addition to the football forum.

You may wonder what a Gator is doing on a Bama forum. Mostly it's because I can appreciate the history of the Alabama program over the years and find it both enjoyable and interesting to read the variety of stories and opinions on the subject.

We both recognize when it comes to rivalry there's more than enough butt hurt to go around.

My responsibility is to represent my school with as much class as possible. No, it won't make up for all the clowns that also posts stupid things on social media, but I can at least hold my head high that I took the high road.

The best reason I enjoy Tide Fans though is it's a family friendly site - no cursing allowed. And they run a very tight ship in other areas. My parents were both Navy WW II veterans, so perhaps it's how I was raised - to appreciate things like that.

I should also say I've been a Hoosier fan for many years and was delighted to see their win over Ohio State and for their QB to get the Heisman.

This game is going to be very enjoyable to watch.

Hopefully Florida will get back into the playoffs in the near future.

I just wanted to give Tide Fans a plug.

All the best,
Bazza

You’re a good man, Barry. Thank you for this classy note

From that article: "Losing three times, eking into the 12-team 2025 CFP field, and controversially so? That’s an underachievement at Alabama, which is why fans there, lots of them, were hoping Michigan would hire Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer (record at Alabama: 20-7) to replace former U-M coach Sherrone Moore."

Where did he get that? Must have either stretched/twisted Casagrande or just made it up for clicks...
"Fans....lost of them" - I can name "lots of them" from my Facebook page after every game we've lost the last two years.

But it's not the majority and surely not the sane ones!

But the truth is, you can go back to this board and read threads after every lost game since he's been hired and find a discussion about it too. The insanity is real!

The context of sports fandom is that we're all fanatics with varying levels of tolerance for the current state.

We want to win and we especially want to win in this environment where you can go out and buy your team (see TexTech, Indiana, OSU) and have an instant winner. We don't want to see excuses or whining or guys laughing during losses. We don't want to see lackluster effort or guys scared to get hit or make a hit. We don't want to see idiotic playcalling. We don't want to hear about guys "monetizing my brand." The money everyone from top to bottom is getting is too high to let these things slide.

We voice our concerns - some are over the top. Some are understated. As I've stated many times over the last 3 years: the players want to get paid like pros so we're gonna treat'em like pros. Criticism is part of that treatment. And with coaches at the top all making $9MM+, even moreso.

The crux of the matter is that I'm for ALABAMA ... whoever is slotted in this week/year to coach or play. Guys who show loyalty and enduring commitment will be given more grace. Drive bys just cashing in will not.
