Shelton made several bad descisions on the court that i think cost us the game

1). the technical foul even though the original call was complete ****e. ES should have kept his mouth shut

2). he made a sloppy pass that resulted in a layup

3). he took a stupid stupid three pointer at the end of the game. We should have worked it around and tried to draw a foul with chuck davis of let winston create his own shot.

Shelton's physical ability to shoot and to score is in no doubt, but his mental game is.

Shelton

1. The ref appeared to give him a quick whistle on the technical. He did very little to "earn" it.

2. Not sure which play that was..

3. The 3 pointer was well in his range and had a little space to shoot it. It was a quick shot, but certaintly not double stupid.

Shelton's great decisions and great play make up for his 3 bad decisions.

This team didn't lose b/c of any one player, this team lost b/c of bad defense by the guards... Ron Steele has to step it up a notch on defense.

we also lost because

Washington is a good team which played well and in splendid luck. The officiating was uniformly bad, but I thought it equalled out over the course of the game. The play in the second half when one of Washington's forwards, heavily guarded, and as the shot clock was winding down, hit a three falling away from the basket. Obviously there were things we could have done better, but take heart from the play of Steele and Weber on the perimeter. They will only get better as the season goes along.

Our...

fickleness doesn't usually show up quite so early in the season. I guess it's our deep penetration into March last year. First thing you know, we'll start sounding like Duke fans... :eek2:

But you have to admit one thing........

At least no one is on Gottfried's back anymore, all of the comments are being directed toward the players........i think that is a great sign of how well your program is doing........

So........in case you all didn't see it........the silver lining is shining right through

I am more comfortable when the criticism is directed at the coach rather than the players. The coach at least is a paid professional. Don't get me wrong I am not big on coach bashing either. Everyone makes mistakes it is just usually not on national tv. These young men want to play their best and win every game but reality is that everyone makes mistakes and you can't win them all, usually. Roll Tide!

Thanks for all the links you provide.

You are very welcome. It is my pleasure bamabballer.

Just a reminder to all Bama basketball fans. I don't have a chance to link all the basketball articles and sites with basketball info that are on the Bama Team News board to the Basketball board so go there daily and check for Bama Basketball News, links and info.

There are links to different Sports Radio programs, game broadcasts and CSTV for a Live Game Tracker if the game is not on TV or Radio.

If Coleman sounded like Cameron you'd be onto something there!

reason we lost to washington is because the whole team lacked transition defense. they ALL jogged down the court and all stayed at the top of the key to guard the ball handler. i dont think thats just steele's or shelton's fault. i think thats a TEAM effort or lack there of. i dont know if they were tired from the games or was just lazy but thats what beat them.
