I had never heard of this, but there is a competition yearly in Valdez Alaska to see who can take off and land in the shortest distance.
Last year, the winner was 9 feet 5 inches. Nice headwind helps a bit.

ANd sure, these planes are not loaded with passengers and cargo, but still 9 ft 5 in? That's amazing.
