Let me start off by saying that i've waited to cool down and get a reality grip on the SC loss this past Saturday. I have had the opportunity to read and examined most of the posts regarding the loss. Many points, good and bad, were brought up to explained the defeat. I want to begin by saying that i have been an ALABAMA FOOTBALL fan for over 20 years. I love the CRIMSON TIDE with all my heart and soul. I have seen them comeback time after time and displyed that BAMA "MAGIC". Now, i don't see the confidence nor the swaggart any longer. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE doesn't exist. The fans and crowd just isn't LOUD or INTIMIDATING.That's because we EXPECT to win. I hope i am WRONG! I have few passions in my life and watching the TIDE play football is one of them. When CMS was hired to be the next great coach to lead BAMA back to national prominence, i was excited and very hopeful that he was the right man for the most challenging and rewarding job in all of the sports world. Last season was the honeymoon period. CMS came in late and had little time to get situated. BAMA NATION was patient and very understanding. Those 9 losses for the most part could have been wins. So therefore, the 2004 season was going to be promising and much improve. Spring and Fall practices were going well as plan and new faces and names began to rise from obscurity to make quick impacts on the team. CMS and the coaching staff had plenty of time to installed the plays and schemes for the upcoming season. Fans were concerned about the OL/DB/WR/ and the depth at DL. We were content and feeling good at RB/LB/and QB. 3 games into the season and ALABAMA look good and fans felt confident about the team, granted we didn't play anybody that seriously posed a threat. Then it happened, Brodie goes down and out for the season. Panic sets in and the worries begin to mount and plant themselves in the faithful's mind. Not to worry, Marc will be the savior and he will be just fine. Heck, CMS stated that the only reason why MG was not the starter was due to lack of playing time and game experience. 2 games after the BC injury, ALABAMA has play like the the whole 1st string offense/defense was injured and out for the rest of the season! Many on this board will flame me after i state my reasons why this is happening to our beloved TIDE. That's alright, this is my opinion and you don't have to agree. CMS has not shown any type of fire or intensity on the FREAKING sidelines. What the hell is he thinking in that head!?! Emotions are not shown while the BAMA NATION is throwing TVs out the window and screaming from their top of the lungs! We have one the best running games in the nation with one of the BEST OL clearing the way for them. Hell, they are doing a great job of protecting MG! They are no longer a weakness on our team. Yet, CMS and the geniuses want to abandoned the run when we are behind 3 points!!! Most on this board will say that give MG time and he will get better, maybe and maybe not. I don't believe any reports from practice that MG is getting better and that he had a good day. I heard that about Madison before during Spring practice.I will belive it when i see it. In the meantime, let us utilize what works and not make MG perform the impossible. CMS should keep the game plan SIMPLE, BASIC, FUNDAMENTAL BAMA FOOTBALL!! Short drop offs and screens are the passes MG should be making and once in awhile a 20 yarder near the sidelines to avoid INT's. Just IMHO. Our defense is playing their asses off and i am so proud and confident when they step on the field. They will always keep us in the game, but they need to rest. Our offense needs to sustain drives and finish with points!!
Instead they are expected to bail us out in the last 2 games because our offensive schemes puts us in bad field positions. This is due to erratic play calling and inconsistent game plan. Twice, going to the halftime, we were down by 4 and 3 points and yet we came out playing like we were down by 3 TDs!! Our DBs are doing a great job. Better than expected. I can't say enough about the RBs. But if we keep up with the same conservative/predictable play calling and stray away from our strengths and continue to put our defense in unfavorable situations, we will be LUCKY if we go BOWLING!! And for those waiting for CMS to "open up" his playbook, you have a better chance of doing it youself by playing PS2.

STRENGTHS: 1.OL, Britt/Mathis/Martz are doing what seniors are expected to do. Hopfefully, th NFL will take notice. Tatum and Closner will be future studs!

2.DBs are solid. Harper is a ******! Robinson holds his own. Castille -ALL AMERICAN!!

3.LBs are solid with everybody contributing. Garth and Waldrup will be studs.
still waiting for Ryans/Roach to show up.

4.DL was a concern but Gilbury/Turner/Harris/Britt,J./Griffen have given us hope.
Bates/Anderson are strong ends. Lee/Bryant need to show their true potential.

5.WRs are all studs waiting for the right time to shine. it may not be this year.

6.RBs , enough said!!

7.Special teams are a wonderful surprise. Christensen and Bostic are helping the best they can.

WEAKNESSES: 1.Bo Freeland needs a punt up his A**!! I have never seen a punter with a non-chalant attitude when punting the ball. this guy has never been consistent and his heart doesn't seemed to be in the game. he will hurt us in the future when the game is on the line.

2.CMS and the coaching staff's erratic play calling. I am a supporter of CMS and want him to succeed at BAMA as well as his career as a head coach, but if we don't win games that we are suppose to, it will become more difficult to rally behind him. It is one thing to poorly execute plays/ drop balls/ commit penalties/ have turnovers but it is another thing when players want to win and the coaches put them in a position to lose.

I vented enough and now will wait to see what happens. I love THE TIDE and want us to be back on top so bad and realized that it won't be easy with all the sanctions and expectations that goes with it. But what does all those sanctions have to do with us playing and winning games with athletes that are better than the 2 opponents we loss to. I told myself and my die-hard CRIMSON brother, i hate losing but when we shoot ourselves in the foot to help the other team, that's when it becomes fustrating! :mad2:

GOOD LUCK BAMA! MAY WE ROLL TIDE TILL THE END!! :biga2:

Dude, mix in a paragraph every once in awhile. Lots of folks won't even bother to read something like that.

Good post otherwise.
For real, I read the 1st couple of lines and then just gave up....

That was the best post I've read here in a long time. It might be hard to read the post with a 6th grade education, Bebes.

Bryant-Denny Stadium use to be a place where other team were not happy to play in and I seen this decline since, well, about 1996. Will it become that way again? I don't know, but I do believe the stadium does evolve around the coach.

I have been to Bryant-Denny three times this year, and it seemed plenty loud to me. Not missing the crowd noise component. Perhaps it's the second half you are speaking about, when in three games we have been way up on our opponent, therefore the crowd noise was less of a factor, or last Sat. nite, when poor QB play took the crowd right out of it.

My thoughts exactly jdpas29!

tee hee! swaggert... ;)

I will have to also disagree with his premise in that Bama hasn't had that "Swagger" in many years! I think it truly left after our loss to La. Tech or Kentucky a few years ago under Dubose!

Swagger comes with dominating football teams who win constantly...when exactly was the last time we won constantly? I can tell you...it was Gene Stallings last year prior to our first run-in with the NCAA!

Dear BAMA gents, i apologize for not spacing more paragraphs. It was late at night when i decided to post this thread. I know there were some misspell words. I was on a spree and did not bother to make changes. Thanx for the positive feedback. Hopefully, the TIDE will roll the rest of the year! :biga:
