Softball 2026-expectations?

In Game 2, BAMA has started out playing very discombobulated. 2 errors in the top of the first led to 2 Arkansas runs. In the bottom of the 1st, Vandagriff got a lead off walk, then on a mis-play on a hard grounder by Wells, she overran 2nd base and was tagged out. BAMA should have had 2 on, no out, but they did not. A double play then ended the inning. I hope the ladies wake up. It's 2-0 Arky, after 1.

BAMA woke up a bit in the 2nd, but we still had 2 strike outs on 2 bad pitches. Sandwiched around that we did score 2 runs to tie it up. But after we tied it up, we still had runners on 2nd and 3rd, with 1 out, and couldn't get them in. It's tied up 2-2 after 2 complete. Oh, Moten is actually pitching very well, Without the errors in the first, Arky doesn't score.

Top of 4th: Moten walks lead off, followed by a soft looper to LF. 1st and 2nd for Arky, no outs. Ground ball, out at 3rd, 1 down. Now 1st and 2nd, 1 down. Ground ball to SS, out a 1st, 2 down. Now 2nd and 3rd, 2 down. Soft liner right over the second baseman's head scores 2 for Arkansas. Now 6-2 Arky. I think Moten throws too hard. These soft liners are not well hit, and I think just get a little juice from how hard Moten throws. Next batter walks. Now 1st and 2nd, 2 out for Arky. Pitching change for BAMA.

Bottom of 4th: Roman walks to lead off. Hawkins walks. Safe at first on error. Bases loaded, no outs. Wild pitch scores a run, but there's an argument that BAMA batter did not get out of the way and obstructed. Arky wins the challenge. Obstruction at the plate, but the BAMA player would have been safe anyway. Stupid rule. Now, on top of that, Arky was called for an illegal pitch so everything goes back to what it was before the play. So it's backed to bases loaded, no outs BAMA. That's followed by a ground ball up the middle with a safe call at second base. Arky challenging the call, but a run did score. It's now 6-3 Arky, waiting on the challenge. Arky wins the challenge again. So now it's, 1st and 3rd BAMA, 1 out.

Johnson walks. Now 1st and 2nd for BAMA, 1 out. Ball gets away, runners now at 2nd and 3rd. Vandagriff hit by pitch, bases loaded, 1 out. Wells at the plate. Arky changing pitchers again. Going back to their starter.

Wells hits hard ground ball that ricocheted off the Arky players head. This ball was hit very hard and took a crazy hop. It will definitely leave a mark. Two runs score. BAMA ties it at 6. 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Pupillo hits deep, high fly ball to the wall. Mis-played by the CF, run scores, BAMA now up 7-6.

2nd batters hits it off the wall in RF for a double. Arky now has a runner on 2nd, no outs. Our freshmen pitchers have not handled the pressure of an big SEC series so far today. This is the most runs BAMA has given up so far in a game this year.

Pollozzi hits the batter on a 3-2 count. Arky now has 1st and 2nd, no one out. Pitching change for BAMA. Moten coming back in to pitch. Fly ball to CF, 1 out, no advance by the runners. Moten gets K, 2 down. Moten gets another K. No more damage. Tied at 7 after 4.5.

Bottom of 5th: Roman walks to lead off. Hawkins bunts, out at first. Roman to 2nd, 1 down. Hubbard grounds out to 2nd, Roman to 3rd, 2 down. Young strikes out on 3 pitches. Tied at 7 after 5 complete.

Moten in the circle: First hitter goes yard on a line drive dinger to dead CF. Arkansas now up 8-7. Line drive, barely foul, caught at 3rd. 1 down. Fly out to LF, 2 down. Walk issued, semi on purpose. Ends with a K. 8-7 Arky after 5.5.

Moten gives up another dinger to dead center field. Now 9-7 Arky, top of the 7th. Our pitching and fielding have been off today. New pitcher coming in for BAMA. Since we took the 7-6 lead, Arkansas has hit 3 solo dingers to take a 9-7 lead.

Alea Johnson in to pitch. Ground out to SS, 1 down. Ground ball double down the LF line. Runner takes 3rd on a ball in the dirt. Arky has runner on 3rd, 1 down. Another walk. Arky has 1st and 3rd, 1 down. Another walk, bases loaded for Arky, 1 down. HBP, another run for Arky, now 10-7. Strike out for the 2nd out. Bases loaded, 2 down for Arky. Grand slam to LF for Arky, now up 14-7. BAMA is pretty much toast today. The big question now is how will they handle their first loss. I know we have a half inning to go, but this order has gotten way to big. Another pitcher for BAMA. Hodges comes in and walks the first batter on 5 pitches. Not good. Gets a L to end the inning. Arky up 14-7 after 6.5. BAMA pitching could not keep things close.
