At the White House, the parking area formerly called "National championship team bus designated parking place" has been renamed "Alabama's Parking Place."

Would be nice if the softball, gymnastic, and women's golf teams could go, too. Remember Sarah Patterson saying last year that none of the championship gymnastic teams have ever gone to D.C.

I completely agree. Our Athletic Department could more than afford to send everyone.

I think it's that the other don't get invited. I could be wrong though.

And yes, sorry to be negative but Alabama can be very tight with money sometimes. And I know we're not hurting.

I'm working it coming and going, and they're even laying over the flight crew in Tuscaloosa the night before. Roll Tide, I'm excited!

So Alabama will go to the White House...Uggin and meet the President of The United States...Uggin.
Yeah, a few of the guys have been there enough already they're probably on a first-name basis with President Obama!

Recall the video recently from when President Obama spoke via telephone with Ozzie and Coach Harbaugh (whichever one it is) from the Ravens and he talked quite a bit about Alabama? Look it up if you didn't see it... pretty cool. The President is very in-the-know about college football. It was on signing day or right after, and he mentioned (to Ozzie) about Reuben Foster having an Auburn tattoo and committing to Alabama. I expect a very pleasant and engaging visit for our team with the President. It wouldn't suprise me if he asked Barrett and AJ about their little tussle or AJ about his *ahem* nice-looking lady friend.

Pretty cool stuff all around.

Anyone else who can't control themselves and makes a political statement gets a week off.

This is an honor for the team, and I'm proud for them.

I agree. I cringe whenever an athlete tries to make a "statement" by not going to the White House when they win a championship.

I went to the Whie House in 72 not to be honored like these young men but just a tour. It's the people's house & it is a Great Honor.

They will never forget it.

Better get ok with it because I don't think this is their last invite.

OK, two suspensions. Anyone else want to ignore the warnings? We are simply not going to have this. If your politics are such that you just can't stand to see the team be honored by the White House (by a president the overwhelming majority of the team probably voted for), you need to go to NS and start a thread there. However, completely off the table is any thread which attempts to discuss the way staff handles long, long established site policies. There is a bright red line drawn between sports and politics and that's always been true. If you doubt the wisdom of it, just look around at some of the other sites. BTW, this post is broadcast mode only. It's not an invitation to discuss site policies with me...

As another poster alluded to, our older players have to feel like Forrest meeting the President so many times. Considering how the entire University did last year, I'm sure the president has gotten to know our entire athletic dept on first name basis.

Wow. I sense there's been some tension since I posted. I know this is kinda beating a dead horse, as it's been settled already. But if you can't respect a man, at least respect his position.

Very well put. While I'll admit that I did not vote for the man that currently occupies the White House, I respect the POSITION that he holds. This is a great honor for our team and if the president were to invite me to visit, I would accept it as a privilege and would be there tomorrow in a suit and tie.

I wonder if some of the players can get frequent visiting points? They have probably been to the White house more than many of Congress. Maybe they are bringing Saban in to fix the Sequester?
