Good read...even if its kinda scary to see Scarbinsky write something positive about Alabama. :)

To answer "when was the last time a recruit on national TV chose between anyone & Alabama?": I recall Simeon Castille choosing Bama over several other teams during the nationally broadcast Army HS All-Star game. :) RTR.

Did I read that right?

Wow! Scarredbinsky wrote a dandy there! And he's right! After the good things Tebow had to say about CMS and the relationship they've built, it makes me really anxious about official signing day. I can't help but believe there's going to be some good things to come of this!

I watched the ESPN documentary on TT and the best part was when Tim and his dad were going over the mountain of cards and letters from the different schools and his dad read one from the Vols, then ask Tim what he thought about UT. Tim replied that he went up there last year and didn't really like it . . . didn't think he wanted to go back.

Even though it was typical ESPN, I enjoyed the documentary and thought it gave props to the state of Alabama, via Hoover High and UA, not to mention Shula.

I also came away more impressed with the job CMS did with recruiting Tebow against all odds in Meyer's favor. How do you get a kid from UF's backyard when he has a Gator shrine for a bedroom and a Gator football helmet for his family's mailbox?

RA Ja, I agree....after seeing the special I didn't feel so bad. You can't blame the kid, I just wish we had known this before all the time was spent with him. I posted earlier that it would be hard to get him with all the gator folks around him. Family, buddies, fans, media, etc.

Not noly the fmaily influence but everything from the mail box out by the street to the posters in his room were Florida oriented. The young guy had more Florida and Danny Wuerffel posters in his room than my next door neighbor had Farrah Fawcett posters in his room in 1975!

TT was always Gator's to lose

CMS said and did all the right things to spark his interest and up to the Barn game had him leaning toward bama...........and the UF stomp of FSU sealed the Deal. I just read his comments on interviews and also saw most the players close to TT start commiting to UF and knew he was already telling his Bud's it was UF.

Careful DrJames, there are those on here that will take you task for even suggesting that Tebow new where he was going prior to the afternoon of his announcement.

And then there are those with perfect 20/20 hindsight who aimlessly troll rival boards proclaiming their omnipotence.

So basically, one of two things has happened. Tim Tebow, a devout reilgious guy and, by all accounts, a high character kid either...

1. had a difficult time deciding between Bama and Florida

OR

2. He deliberately mislead everyone, just to build up some pub for himself and his one hour ESPN special. Okay, so that's fine, maybe it was contractual. But, he also lied after the fact saying that it was 50/50 up until a few hours before the decision, when there was nothing left to gain for him or ESPN. If he knew all along, why not at least come clean and say something like "Well, I was leaning Florida most of the way, but, I was going to give Bama a chance to change my mind"? Tebow has nothing to gain at this point by continuing a lie... the special is over, he had his bright moment in the sun and ESPN has their ratings.

Call me crazy, but, I am going with option #1. I think Tebow is a good, honest kid and I take him at his word.

However, if option #2 is the case (and I don't think it is, at all, but, certain Gator fans seem to) then obviously Tim is not the high character kid everyone says.

So, which is it Gator fans... is Florida's golden boy a liar? Or did he nearly get pulled away by the Tide?

Definitely #1
He had nothing to gain by playing with ESPN. He has had an entire year of glory in the spotlight. IMO, I think that by making the announcement in public, on national TV, he had to favor the home crowd. I don't think he has had the experience of being boo'ed off the field before, and for someone so young, it might be really tough for him to deal with. I would also think that if he did not go through ESPN and made his committment low-profiled, then CMS would have a better shot at signing him, because then Tim wouldn't have been in a position of disappointing the home crowd in public and on national TV. So I don't know whose idea this was to be on ESPN, but if it was Meyer's, then he's a lot smarter than we give him credit for. :conf2:
