While the incident was classified by the sheriff’s office as “fraud by false pretenses,” McCormick and Johnson were not arrested. Instead, they were “issued a verbal no trespass warning” prohibiting them from returning to the Dollar General store.

US Education system in all its glory
This goes beyond lack of knowledge and steps into the seriously low IQ arena. No person with even below average intelligence would have believed that a dollar store could make change for a $1M bill. The entire store is likely not worth $1MM.

What did they think was going to happen?

There was never one iota of rationality in this action...not one. I am glad we keep it alive...gives me a good laugh every time I see it. And with the state of the world, I need a good laugh regularly.
