All this will do is tick off fans and put a lot of small to medium college towns in the red. Before Saban spring games weren’t well attended and def weren’t on tv so it’s hard to get that mad about it. Was a nice perk though

the transfer portal too. you don't want a player showing what he can do in a practice for other coaches to see and then cheat the system and offer a huge NIL deal and steal your guy
Cheat? What is this word in college football? I don't think it exists anymore. No rules are enforced....so there are no rules. It's a free for all.

I agree here, even with spring games going away or cancelled, players are going to get their tape out there to someone, so make them wait a little longer
You're a 100%, correct. Players have access to their practice film and can send it to any team they want. Canceling the spring game is not gonna interfere with a player getting their film to another team.

This^^^^

Canceling the spring game will have zero impact on players being poached. It's not just the poachers doing the poaching, it is the players out looking for more money. You have players who have their own people shopping them (while they're currently on a team) to other teams trying to get a better paycheck. The problem isn't just from outside the program, it's from within as well.

We should play our spring game, be loud and proud and use it to recruit all the Texas kids. If ANY player doesn't want to be here for the 2025 season then please by all means, they should go. Do not stay and be an energy vampire. I don't think for one second the "lack of public exposure" is going to effect players looking for greener pastures.

FWIW, Sark has different reasons, and I don't disagree with his. They've played four more games than a team that wasn't bowl eligible, incurring significantly more wear and tear on players, plus most of their team won't be on campus until the summer. There's really no benefit in having a spring game. In Alabama, a lot of high school teams have scrapped the spring game in lieu of an extra week of fall camp. Going to A-Day isn't even that great of an experience. Weather can be iffy, concessions are limited, no halftime show, etc. Not a big deal to scrap it, IMO.

The portal is the problem here. Move the spring game back until after the portal closes on April 25th.

A-Day is a joke now…it’s become the purge…24 hours of craziness. Breaking into Tut…the strip at night is literally dangerous…it’s a great weekend for students to go home.
We used to build a golf outing around it…for years we looked forward to it…last year was my last A-Day…and my kids too…and one of them is a student there.
