Basically the same reason Nebraska did. I won’t be shocked if Alabama eliminates A-Day in the near future.

the transfer portal too. you don't want a player showing what he can do in a practice for other coaches to see and then cheat the system and offer a huge NIL deal and steal your guySpring games have gone the way of the Do-Do.
Thanks NIL....you've ruined the entire sport
I agree here, even with spring games going away or cancelled, players are going to get their tape out there to someone, so make them wait a little longerThe portal is the problem here. Move the spring game back until after the portal closes on April 25th.
Cheat? What is this word in college football? I don't think it exists anymore. No rules are enforced....so there are no rules. It's a free for all.the transfer portal too. you don't want a player showing what he can do in a practice for other coaches to see and then cheat the system and offer a huge NIL deal and steal your guy
Portal is the problem in December during recruiting and bowl prep. The portal is the problem here. Move the spring game back until after the portal closes on April 25th.
You're a 100%, correct. Players have access to their practice film and can send it to any team they want. Canceling the spring game is not gonna interfere with a player getting their film to another team.I agree here, even with spring games going away or cancelled, players are going to get their tape out there to someone, so make them wait a little longer

Agreed, but if you move spring practice back the NCAA will be under (and quickly cave to) pressure to extend the portal window for those players who, by the end of spring practice, are unhappy with their positions on the depth chart...The portal is the problem here. Move the spring game back until after the portal closes on April 25th.

A-Day is a joke now…it’s become the purge…24 hours of craziness. Breaking into Tut…the strip at night is literally dangerous…it’s a great weekend for students to go home.FWIW, Sark has different reasons, and I don't disagree with his. They've played four more games than a team that wasn't bowl eligible, incurring significantly more wear and tear on players, plus most of their team won't be on campus until the summer. There's really no benefit in having a spring game. In Alabama, a lot of high school teams have scrapped the spring game in lieu of an extra week of fall camp. Going to A-Day isn't even that great of an experience. Weather can be iffy, concessions are limited, no halftime show, etc. Not a big deal to scrap it, IMO.
