Yesterday I made it to the first away game of my life and had a pretty good time. Auburn's fans treated my friends and me pretty civily for the most part...they were either polite and joked about the game or just ignored us completely. But it was a completely different story AFTER the game.

While we were walking back to our car one drunk Auburn fan who looked to be in about his mid-30's starts walking next to my friend and has the following exchange...

Drunk Barner: yall are just getting by on luck and Bear Bryant's legacy!
My friend: Well in that case yall are getting by on nothing and no one's legacy.
Drunk Barner: Oh yeah? Well Tubby did a pretty good job against yall.
My friend: Why would you brag about a coach that yall FIRED? And Saban looks like he's doing a good job against yall so far...

After that the Auburn fan took one last swig of the Michelob Ultra bottle he had in hand and then smashed it on the sidewalk in front our feet and screamed "DELETED" before storming off to the condo that he was apparently staying at. I thought this was particularly sad because this was a grown man trying to pick a fight with a 20 year old.

After that I had the pleasure of seeing a group of drunk Auburn fans standing on an apartment balcony yelling "DELETED" and other cute obscenities at passing bama fans.

I'm not trying to make this an indictment of their entire fanbase because most of the Auburn fans I encountered were pretty decent, but did any of yall have any experiences or witness the sort of thing that I just talked about?

Out of the 10,000 Auburn fans we met yesterday we only ran in to two fans that were bad. (those are better odds than meeting our own fans)

I was in line to one of those trailor bathrooms and this one guy want to fight. I mean actually fight because I yelled 'Roll Tide' to a passing Bama fan.
First of all I am not going to get into a fight for 'no cause'. I do not want them to hit me in my big nose cause it hurts. Plus I am too old to be in fights, I could break an arm and be out of work for weeks or a hip and be on a walker.
I just said 'man I want no part of this' and I walked back out.
However I do not judge all Auburn fans by that one drunk ahole. We had a good time in Auburn. and they actually have a better parking system than we have. And unlike at Tuscaloosa, the police we out directing traffic at all major intersections.

An Auburn fan threw a beer can at a MDB tenor sax... that was just about the worst of it for me. Lots of trash talk with F bombs, but not too much else.

What kind of beer was it? If it was a Bud or Bud light then you really got under their skin. If it was a Milwaukee's Best then they just wanted to play.
