Pretty bold talk considering the Astros were running on fumes down the stretch & are 0-for their illustrous franchise history in the playoffs (I think 0-6, but please correct me if I am wrong)!

BamaDevo,

I have supported the Cardinals all my life and the Braves since their move to Atlanta. In fact, I made many trips to Fulton County Stadium in the late 70s and early 80s before it was chic to pull for the Braves.

For some reason, I have a deep-seeded wish for the Braves to get eliminated early. I have been disgusted with their complacent attitude throughout the regular season and despise the way Bobby Cox and Leo use their pitching staff in the late innings. I was glad to see a few pitching changes backfire on them, epecially when the starter was throwing a strong game with a very low pitch game. Cox's reliance on that shaky bullpen cost me a few fantasy league points!

BTW, we had already started a post with World Series predictions. I brought it back to the top. Everyone please read and see if anybody wants to change their earlier predictions before we get any further into the playoffs.

I don't want to see people hopping on the band wagon in a few days.

I guess I'll be having crow for dinner one night this week re: Astros - hey, at least we fired the coach

My NYY & Az picks looking good, but I'm worried about Az beating the Yanks; with almost a week off, and with travel days, Schilling & Johnson will be able to pitch games 1,2,4,5 and 7.

UCLA, the Stros did win some playoff games in the '86 NL playoff (don't remember against who). That was in the days of Mike Scott, Nolan, Knepper, etc.

I have never had a reason to be a Yankees fan before. This time, I have no reason to cheer for the D'Backs other than to be against the Yanks. I gotta go with they Yanks - I have relatives in NY who are Yankee fans, and just - with everything that's happened, I gotta cheer for NY.

Natchez - I too am glad the Braves and Tom Glavine have been sent to the golf course. I grew up a Braves fan and always will be, but they could improve their goodwill if Ted Turner would sell the team to a normal human being and put Glavine on waivers.
