The Decline of the DNC III

No.

Winning a Congressional race is easy enough that Lauren Boebert and MTG have done it. Sarah Palin got elected governor for Pete's sake.

He's done nothing outside of politics - and thing is, he hasn't done anything INSIDE politics like pass a bunch of legislation or do much beyond complain. I can do that here on TF, but it doesn't make me accomplished (I'll allow the clown part on myself, yes).
but he was also mayor of burlington, vt

Any good clown can win a race. Not everyone can win a race. You have to have skills to lie & convince people to vote for you

Agreed.

He’s the richest person I know that’s against being rich.

Bernie Sanders is an unaccomplished clown who figures if he can appeal to the sin of envy in enough people, he can get elected President - and then invite all those oligarchs he claims to loathe to his inauguration since that's what always happens. I give the man credit for ONE thing only: he did run as a socialist openly during the Reagan era, so it can only be a position of conviction.

What's funny is that I've never seen one single Democrat who makes this appeal to envy ever be poor themselves; they're always a part of the very same group of rich people they claim they want to tax, but they sure as hell never step up and volunteer with extra tax money.

Bernie has a net worth of $3 million. (I even used liberal MSNBC so none of you can pull the "oh Faux News made that up").

He's in the top 2%, but sure po' folks, he's your champion.
He’s made a lot of $ getting bought out of running for president.

THIS! I’m still ruefully amused at the number of “Bernie Bros” who readily admit that their guy got screwed, but refuse to see him as the sellout he really is.

Nice little town, too.

When my brother first moved north (in 2008), that's where he was working. He called me on my birthday (October 28) and said, "The sun went down at 345pm and we got a foot of snow on the ground."

This from a kid who had never lived anywhere but Mississippi or Texas.

Beautiful state.

And one of the really cool things is that when you drive their interstates, it's a scenic route. If you have to stop and relieve yourself or buy fuel, the towns are about 2-3 miles either to the left or right.

They've done a REALLY good job there making it scenic.

Personally, I think two of the best kept secrets in the USA are Vermont (blue) and Montana (red).

None of these people are champions of anything except their own grifting.

Populism is an expression of emotion, not a governing philosophy. And that is true whether we are talking about George Wallace, Jesse Jackson, Donald Trump, Pat Robertson, or Bernie Sanders.

And yes, we've had plenty of others in our history, too.

There were estimates ranging from 10 to 14% of the Bernie vote went to Trump in the general election, including twice as much as necessary to win the crucial swing states that made the difference. This leads me to believe Bernie wasn't nearly as popular as some of the Hard Left thought, he was just a vehicle for "we don't want Hillary."

It stands to reason Bernie voters caught up in populism would vote for Trump based on attitude and not ideology.

My wife loves to see the changing colors in the Fall, something that doesn't happen in Vietnam. When we lived in Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley was a nice drive, but it doesn't compare to New England. We've wanted to go to see NE in the Fall but could never coordinate our schedules. One day. When Lan first saw all the changing colors, she said the leaves looked like flavored Jell-o. She still calls them Jell-o trees. :)

My brother moved first to Burlington, VT and then, when the Great Recession laid him off, down to Providence, RI, and he owns his home in Connecticut because home taxes are cheaper there. I did a contract in northern MA from June 2023 to September, and they offered to me to renew. I did and asked my brother about the fall - since my contract ended January 6th. He said, "Best time of the year to be up here. Winter is awful, but the foliage almost makes it worth it."

This October will be my third in a row going to New England for the foliage. Hoping to spend the night in Stowe someday but it won't be this year. What is amusing is that 2023 when I saw it was the worst year for fall foliage in 20 years. My immediate thought was that if that was bad my goodness.

Here's a picture from near the Western Ave. Bridge when I went to the Harvard-Penn game. (up the street behind me at the next bridge is the Shell station where Dun Meng escaped the Boston Marathon kidnappers, and ran to the Mobil gas across the road).

For those keeping score at home.....when Republicans have trouble with a gender gap, it's because they're misogynists.....but when DEMOCRATS have trouble with men.....it's because the VOTERS are misogynists....again.....this is nonsense since many women were elected in 2024. That doesn't mean the men rejected WOMEN, it means they rejected KAMALA HARRIS.

Was this same misogyny why Kari Lake lost???

Elissa Slotkin managed to win in Michigan with these same allegedly misogynist voters who voted for Trump. So did Jacky Rosen and Tammy Baldwin, both in states Trump carried.

Opinion: Democrats’ struggles with men: It’s the misogyny, stupid.

I warned you. Don’t be fooled.

“This next guy we may have to run against is even worse than the guy we spent the last decade telling you was the worst.”

This is as predictable as “this Democrat is a socialist” from the GYP. “We don’t respect Trump, At least Romney constitution blah blah.”

Yeah, I’m old enough to remember when every major accusation made at Trump in 16 was made about Romney. The “respect” is “because we beat him!”

Yep. And the guy after Vance will be the literal anti-Christ. At what point do they hit the wall?

I'll take a dozen Vances over one Trump. While Vance might be an abhorrent figure, there's no way he gets the loyalty/fear from other Republicans that allows him to govern virtually unfettered. I have doubts about him holding MAGA together as well.

What’s the current dim approval rating?
