The Democratic Party is at a Crossroads

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Now fast forward, the Democrats have capitulated. The media is reading their obituary. The Republicans are not dumb enough to give them a chance to regroup and play again.
LOL, yes they are and they will. Republicans don’t particularly like having their feet held to the fire and dealing with voters and donors who are now expecting results. Maybe things will be different this go-around……and maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up having been transformed into a Chinese jet pilot. Odds are about the same….

I truly think that people who voted for trump are going to regret their choice. If he actually does what he says he will do, they will suffer, too. I keep saying that and I find I'm by far not the only one saying it. They don't realize it, yet, but this may turn around and bite them in a big way. Is he actually going put RFK Jr. in as Secretary of the Department of Health? Or Ladapo? So no vaccines? That will be deadly. Is he going to get rid of the Department of Education? Seriously? Deporting immigrants. What the heck do they think that's going to do to grocery prices and construction costs? They ain't gon' like it. Cozy up to Putin and North Korea? Straight up stupid. If we actually become an authoritarian dictatorship---remember he has no guardrails now thanks to SCOTUS---they won't like it. Racists, misogynists, whatever...he can burn this country down. Perhaps they will have to do with no Medicaid, no Medicare, less or no Social Security. Quite a large number of the people who voted for him and blame it on "them thar Demycrats and libtards" are really dependent on those benefits. Will this all happen? Will he really go after the people he perceives to be his enemies for revenge like Putin does? You know..."the enemy within". Will he do these things? Who knows with this...I can't use those words here. I do think there are a lot of seriously (sigh) I shouldn't say that here...shortsighted people in this country and I don't really know who to blame for that. How should the Democrats change for such a situation, exactly? Become bootlicking sycophants for a dictator wannabe with no morals as the Repubs did?

The Dems are losing the working class. It sounds incredulous, but its true. The elitist approach , we know better than you attitude is turning off everyday Americans.
I heard Kamala say in her speech we let down young people. But she failed to realize she herself turned young people to Trump. The 52-47 margin of 18-29 Y/O voters was the closest in decades. If Dems are not careful, they will lose the next generation of voters as well. Wide eyed idealistic young folks are naturally more liberal , not until we get older and cynical or Jaded do older people move center right. To me, Its not a good sign that so many have already moved that direction, even for one election cycle.

I dont think so. Its such a cult that anything that he does that they may not like will be either ignored or rationalized. His administration this time will be nearly completely filled with sycophants willing to feed off of his power.

They voted this way because they can't launch their lives. Cant afford to buy a home. Cant afford to pay rent. Cant get married. Its as bad or worse for them as Millenials during the Great Recession.

Yes... I'm blessed with 4 smart young kids. They would be struggling without me helping them and they are all smart, going to or graduated from college, in fields that pay well...

But it is expensive and hard to get entry level jobs. They will be fine, but I feel sadness for those with less resources.

Nope. For the most part every wound inflicted by President Trump will be blamed on the Democrats. Even when it is clear that the policy that caused the problem is completely from him.

Anti-Asian racism seems to be mostly a leftist thing. My wife has been verbally assaulted and physically attacked numerous times. Same for dozens of her friends. Not once has it been from one on the conservative side of the political spectrum. One of my wife's best friends had her business vandalized and sprayed with racist graffiti during the Antifa/BLM riots in Seattle a few years ago. Add in leftist policies like DEI and opposition to school choice as causing similar harm to outright racism.
When you say leftist you mean black.

There will be spectacles.

I believe to posit otherwise would dishonest.

Truly amazing how voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Nevada voted against Harris on the first page of the ballot, flipped the page - which apparently had the magic potion of curing misogyny - and elected female senators. Tennessee, the most backwards state in America, had a choice between two women as the principles.

Of course, in Maine we had the spectacle of voters giving Harris three of their four electoral votes and then flipping the page and turning into racists to vote against the Republican immigrant dentist, but nobody arguing racism and sexism even mentions that race. (I’m sure the fact the loser was a Republican has zero to do with it - blue font).

saying there are some people that voted against Harris for those obvious reasons is one thing; the notion that there were enough of them to switch this election is preposterous based merely on looking at the evidence. In some cases, they voted for Trump as president and voted for a female Democratic senator who was largely liberal.

Here is the crux of the argument: people like you seem to think that most of the women who need abortions didn’t have domain over their body when they chose to get pregnant, which is simply not true
I've seen a more than a few straw men in these parts, but

The best government is that which governs least." First know printing of this was Thomas Jefferson------a divided government won't/can't over govern

Needless to say, we've missed you around here Selma.

The Republicans capitulated in 2008 when Obama was elected. I remember the media reading the Republican obituary. Yet, they got a chance to regroup and play again. Pass Citizens United, gut voting rights in Holder v Shelby, launder foreign money through the NRA. Voila, elect Trump who was given the foreign developed playbook on how to govern. The only hiccup, China unleashing covid, which in turn benefited the plan to flood the US with inflation.

Now fast forward, the Democrats have capitulated. The media is reading their obituary. The Republicans are not dumb enough to give them a chance to regroup and play again.
If they put Musk in charge of the economy and RFK, Jr. in charge of health, then, yes, they are that dumb...

If they make the draconian sudden cuts Musk is talking about, then she will be absolutely correct...
