I'll be the first to admit that Bama fans, like myself, can be demanding and expect the football program to be competitive nationally year in and year out.

A Bama Coach with an inferior record will eventually be called ex-coach.

At the same time I feel like our fan base, in most cases, is fair, and is at least willing to give a coach a reasonable amount of time to rebuild and be successful
unless it looks like the program is going nowhere or backwards fast.

LSU fans, on the other hand, to me, can be, and are being, flat out ridiculous.

You guys and gals would not believe the large number of LSU fans down here who truly believe Les Miles should be fired because they lost the BCS Championship Game.

I have not heard one good word spoken about the man since the game. Not ONE.

The only perceived hero here is Bobby Hebert who in my opinion made a total butt out of himself in the post game presser by trying to make Miles look like a total idiot.

Miles handled the situation with class but the entire scenario was ridiculous.

I was also here in 2004 when the year after Coach Saban won the National Title the Tigers went 9-3.

Trust me, most of them were saying he couldn't win the big games consistently rather than saying, "Hey, it wasn't as good as last year but it was a good year."

I personally think that type of attitude was one of the reasons Coach Saban left for the Dolphins.

My conclusion is this. Bama fans might be demanding, but we know when we have a great coach and we not only support but appreciate his efforts.

LSU fans seem to expect total perfection and anything less is met with scorn, contempt, and a general lack of respect.

Just my opinion.

Some of us are old enough to remember when some were calling for Coach Bryant to leave in the late 60's due to a couple of bad seasons. We are not without unrealistic expectations.

I remember those days as well. Back to back five loss seasons.

BUT, Coach Bryant even said that following the 69 season Johnny Musso came to him and said, "Coach, we don't know who you are anymore."

He said it was an eye opener.

Seems Coach Bryant was trying to figure out if he wanted to Coach the Dolphins(Isn't that ironic?)..or to remain coach at Bama.

He had lost his focus so to speak.

Once he regained that focus.....well...you know the rest of the story.

But Musso, by being gutsy enough to speak on behalf of the team to Coach Bryant played a major role in the history of the Bama football program.

Let's see if I understand?

They act like we did before we acted the way we do now, or do they act the way we do now before we acted the way we did?

I am so confused...

I always thought they acted like a few of us do now, but there is just a lot more of them acting that way.

Most of us do not act the way a few of us do now.

On the other hand not as many of them act the way that most of us act now, because we don't act like them or the way we used to act or do now...

Being in Jackson myself, you couldn't be more accurate. The crazy thing for me this year is that I've actually met a few that I like for the first time in 41 years.

The Difference Between BAMA and LSU fans?

We understand our place in the College Football world......
I was going to say the same thing with different words. We have been to the top several times. When we are going through bad years we know deep down that we will be back on top again. That seems to be the main difference between Bama, Texas, USC and a few other programs. We know we're coming back!

I agree the LSU fan mentality is that you should be run off if you don't win the 'Big Game'.
LSU fans are like some PRO fans, they think if they loose the Super Bowl they should fire the coaching staff and start over.
(Unfortunately, we also have a few fans like that.)

Truth is that like the old adage, 'You can't win em all'.

Great point RW. Even as bad as it got in the aughts, most, not named Jim Rome, knew Alabama would be back. Having not been alive for the 60's and 70's run, I never saw what CNS has put together coming. I never doubted that he would be successful, but 2 NCs in 3 years? Just, wow.

WOW! I'm Impressed. You have truly mastered the art of speaking like
Les Miles...
I read it twice and realize that I don't understand what I thought I understood... (Or was it vice-versa) :)
