What form of capital punishment does the military use these days?? Firing squad??
Last time it was performed was hanging. Of course, that was more than fifty years ago.

I have no idea what they would use nowadays, but I suspect it would be lethal injection. Doesn't really matter anyway. The POTUS has to sign the execution order and somehow I don't see that happening in today's global political climate.

You have a point there and I think he would make sure this drags out till after the election I believe. If he pulled that deal before the election where he would not sign the execution order, he days in the WH would officially be over. I still have to say that he would sign it.

Yes. We need to wait until we get a real president.

Fair trial.

Conviction.

Frog march outside of the base.

Execution.

Send a bill to his family for the bullets.

Perry would push the sleepy juice himself. Has anyone followed the President's attempt to stop the execution of this piece of crap Mexican national who brutally raped and bludgeoned to death with a 35lb piece of asphalt a 16 y.o. girl? Perry said if you commit crimes in TX you better expect the maximum penalty possible if you get caught. Good for him. This human fecal matter will be going to sleep tonight for a real long time.

Why did Obama try to intervene? On what grounds, other than just to fire up his base of the anti capital punishment folks?

It's not like Gov. Perry has a whole lot of regard for federal meddling in his state's affairs.

What was it Ron White said? Something about how other states are pulling back on capital punishment while Texas put in an express lane.

Both Obama and Bush were against this execution because they believed that the accused never got a chance to speak with the Mexican Consulate. Each man felt that Americans overseas who are accused of a crime might be punished without the chance of speaking to the American Consulate and said country overseas might use this execution as an example and reason to not allow the American citizen that chance. It is my understanding that the guy had representation and was told about speaking with the consulate but did not. There are those that say that did not happened and the man was not aware of his rights. Either way, this is a man who did commit and was punished for the crime he was found guilty of.

That logic is crap. It's like the logic Obama and Holder cite when saying we should try foreign terrorists caught on foreign battlefields in American civil courts. Maybe if we are nice to terrorists they'll be less likely to make a YouTube video sawing an American's head off. Asinine. All I know is that dead rapist murders can't be repeat offenders.

Of course it is crap. Look at the 2 names I mentioned. :cool2:
If I am overseas and I get arrested, the only thing I say is my name and I want to see someone from the American consulate. But then, I wouldn't rape and murder a girl either.

Lethal injection.
The last inmate executed by the military was in 1961, but the technique then was hanging.

"Witnesses testified that a gunman wearing an Army combat uniform shouted "Allahu Akbar!" — which is Arabic for 'God is great!' — and started shooting."
But this had nothing to do with islam.

I think some dislike Obama so strongly they assume he will take the most offensive position on any issue. Almost like grasping at straws for something else to be critical about. I know what I'm talking about because I did the same thing during W's terms. I was so disgusted by him I would never spell his name with a capital B, always the lower case.
I realize now that was overboard silliness, but anyway...( However, it was gratifying to watch the majority of the country come around to my opinion of him.)

I expect Obama would jump at the chance to sign the Fort Hood murderers' execution papers. He's tried to draw a distinction between Muslims and terrorists. We will hunt down and kill terrorists, period. If a terrorist happens to be Muslim, that doesn't give them a pass from American justice. He wants all terrorists to understand what their ultimate fate will be, no matter what kind of religion they claim to be members of.

Did Obama hesitate to Kill Bin Laden for fear it would inflame Muslims? Of course not. The Fort Hood murderer would be faced with that same approach from Obama, kill him, and good riddance.

that's bc he basically does take the most offensive position on a vast number of issues.

I expect Obama would jump at the chance to sign the Fort Hood murderers' execution papers.
he didn't

He's tried to draw a distinction between Muslims and terrorists.
true, he tries to bend over backwards to say no terrorist is a muslim even when they are killing americans and shouting dirka dirka allah

these seem like wishful expectations that are devoid of any basis in reality. i can see how you wish for him to be certain ways but i think a realistic examinations of the facts shows that he is not the man you want him to be. i give him credit for giving the go ahead to kill osama. i even give him some credit for keeping gtmo open. im not sure where i stand on him continuing the practice of torturing suspects in foreign countries. other than that i dont see where he is all that tough on anything resembling a muslim extremist terrorist..... errrr i mean terrorist who likes to shout alla for no reason.
