The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly…. Sooner style:

Good: the defense. They did more than enough to get a win tonight.

Bad: inability of the offense to deliver a knockout punch on several opportunities.

Ugly: three turnovers leading to 21 OU points. All of them were just ugly mistakes. OU did force them, so credit where it’s due on that, but it was still poor execution and coaches getting cute that led into them.

Good- defense played much better today and gave us a really good chance to win. Hill showed he should be the RB.

Bad- inconsistent play calling by Grubb. Passing lanes open all night down the middle, we used the TE early and then we abandon it.

Ugly- Turnovers that cost us the game. Special teams were terrible.

The Ridiculous:

Talty missing another Chip Shot FG and throwing a hissy fit blaming the snapper and holder.

He’s missed kicks just as ugly when they did everything perfect and they didn’t jump on him.

Very Bad Look.

He should have to publicly apologize to his teammates.

Either way PK should be open for auditions now.

I’m fine with benching him over it.

Him getting mad and showing out at the snapper told me all I needed to know about him.

Good: The make up of this team compared to last year’s team. Go back to the pick 6 and watch the effort from #15 and #64 on that play….wasn’t the outcome we wanted but it wasn’t from a lack of effort. Now compare that to the pick 6 against this same team in last year’s game….we may not win it all this year but I do think we will get the best this group has to offer.

Bad: Ty’s feel for the game (over the last couple of games). It looks to me like Ty is pressing things these last couple of games… he’s missing throws that he wasn’t missing earlier in the season because he looks like he’s trying to place the ball instead of throwing the ball…looks like he’s trying too hard to be too perfect…but I think play calling has something to do with that, see below.

Ugly: Offensive identity, specifically trying to force the offense into the wrong identity. Short throws, jet sweeps and such are perfectly acceptable in place of a traditional run game if needed. I’m not saying we should abandon the traditional run game but there’s no reason to force it if we don’t have too… a short rollout pass to convert a third and 2 is just as effective as running for the same result. But we have proven time and again that we don’t run the ball well enough to consistently convert in those situations by running the ball…so we force a run on third down and then we call a gadget play that requires perfect execution or we put Ty in a position to have to bail us out with a clutch play on 4th down. I think we’re putting more pressure on our guys by trying to prove ourselves as something we aren’t.

Good: Defense came to play. Even when stuck in difficult situations, either by the offense or the special teams, they managed to hold OU to just one TD and the rest FG's.

Bad: The offense's inability to go for the jugular once we got the lead.

Ugly: Go's with the bad. Grubb's play calling once we got the lead was abysmal and did not even try to take advantage of anything OU's defense was doing.

Plain and simple, we should have won this game, but we couldn't handle the big stage.

Good- I stopped watching in the second quarter and had a much better day. The defense did its job.
Bad- Turnovers and a lack of toughness to control the line of scrimmage cost us a game that we should have won. OU beat us with an inferior roster yet again.
Ugly- UT and AU are always in this category.

Roll Tide and have a great Sunday!

IMG_1144.pngthe only bad in this game is turnovers. Looking at the stats, tell me which team blew out the other? 212 total yards? And the missed FG was blocked by an illegal play . It’s called leaping, and it’s an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I don’t know why the stripes didn’t flag it

With all due respect, stats are for chumps. The only stats that counted today are turnovers and score.

The Good- I guess Ty throwing for over 300. The defense played good enough to win.

The Bad- playcalling calling was atrocious. The OL struggled but it was the RBs in pass pro that failed us today.

The Ugly- our special teams a lost this game. These refs should be fired

Jam specifically got trucked a LOT in pass pro last night. I thought him being better at that was the reason he was still getting the nod over Hill, but whatever gap might have been there is certainly gone now. That said, the two TO's were directly on the OL not doing what they should in pass-pro. The int appears to be a bad alignment call leaving that guy free inside or bad communication that Formby and Carroll should have slid protection in and left the outside guy unblocked which isn't super likely). On the fumble, Carroll got smoked around the edge with pretty bad footwork (although I do think Ty should have pulled the trigger as soon as he got to the top of the drop - the WR and DB end up off screen, but it looks like the seam was opening up). D Hill actually stepped up and stopped a rusher his tracks on that one

Good - Defense did not allow long drives that ended in touchdowns. The did give up two long drives that ended in field goals, which is very good in today's game.

Bad - The team is not physical enough on both sides of the ball. Cannot put games away after taking control. This happened again yesterday which finally ended in a lose.

Ugly - Turn overs which mostly were on Ty but not entirely.

The good= The defense wants to win championships
The Bad=QB has to deliver the ball in big moments period.
The ugly= The turnovers

The good- signs of a running game and Hill getting carries. Small sign.
The bad- the offense.
The ugly- wasting a defense good enough to compete/win a championship.
