She was 78. Wow. I always heard her referred to as "the new Tammye Faye." Whenever I saw her on TV it was just too much.

RIP lady.

I looked that broad and her husband up last night just for the hell of it. They had a $50 million private jet, 13 mansions and a $100,000 mobile home just for her dogs.

At one of her Praise-a-thons they told the audience members to immediately do this:
Shout three AMEN's
Then go directly to the phone and call in a pledge so the Lord will know they're serious about their faith and can then be rewarded.

All 200 of their phone lines lit up within a minute.

I take back my RIP for this hideous shyster.

Read the article about her darling son tapping a gun at a "church" meeting that he was firing his niece who had protested illegal distributions of $100M from their charitable assets.

They'll all burn in hell. But then again, people who give to them are stupid as well and deserve to be broke.

Because God is incapable of knowing how serious someone is about their faith unless they make a phone call and a pledge.

I think sometimes that some of these people start out for real in their faith. The power of money is the great seductive force that many have fail to including men and women of God. I don't know if she was but I have seen people change to the dark side.:)

Yup.

However, probably more powerful and damaging is the pride factor. It is very easy to delude yourself into believing that you are something great and powerful.

I had a very close friend who about 10 years ago was asked to take over and lead a ministry with a LOT of support. This was by no direct action of his own, and they had to work hard to convince him. Two years of it changed him completely, only after it all came tumbling down and a few years of self reflection did he begin to resemble the humble servant type that I knew before.

It is so easy for someone to start something good, then it turn into "<insert name> Ministries". It is also very easy to get caught up in it. IMO The real ones (and ultimately most effective) are those that work as part of something greater and do everything they can to stay out of the limelight. There are thousands of them to the one that gets the attention.

I was surprised to find out she was from New Brockton, Alabama. Why couldn't she have been from Mississippi?
