I've given this game a lot of thought.

Here's what I forecast.

I think Bama will win. I think it will be a blowout.

I base my prediction on the fact that Texas has been notoriously slow coming out of the gate on offense this year. Even against vastly inferior opponents. And they have faced two very physical football teams(Oklahoma and Nebraska) and weren't effective offensively against either one.

Therefore, I see us getting up early, even if it's only 13-3 or 10-0 before halftime. That will take Texas out of the opportunity to try and establish a running game, which they MUST have if they hope to stay in this football game.

They will then become one or two dimensional. Either McCoy running or McCoy passing.

That simply won't get the job done. Rest assured Coach Saban and Coach Smart have a plan in place to drive Colt out of his mind with multiple blitz and coverage packages. He's a great QB but he's going to be confused all night. And without a running game to support him he's going to be a duck floating on a pond with a bunch of hunters getting after him. With high powered rifles.

Texas is an outstanding football team. Very good. I respect what Mack Brown has accomplished.

But I don't think they're the same caliber team as Florida.

Florida is bigger, faster, and just as well coached. Plus they may have had the best player in the history of college football as their Quarterback.

IF we're totally focused, which I have to think we will be, I see 38-13 Bama.

I think we'll hold Texas to about the same number of points Nebraska and Oklahoma did and I think we'll blow it open in the second half by simply being more physical on both sides of the ball.

I said it before the season when I predicted a National Title......

"Yes, we're that good"

Time will tell. You never know in one single football game.

But that's my score and I'm sticking to it.

Texas at Austin 13

Alabama 30-17

A few short reasons:
1. Texas can't learn to be physical in a month
2. Texas can't find a running game in a month
3. We have Saban, they have Mack....Saban by a mile!

There will be NO DOUBT who the better team is after the game. :biga2:

Ditto your assessment SIP so you saved me a lot of typing. I feel the SEC will win its 4th BCS title in a row. Texas has too many matchup problems IMO. For them to win Alabama will have to completely lose it. I'm thinking 34-17 which ia about where I had the SECCG. This team is just that complete. To a great game....ROLL TIDE!!!

I'm right there with you guys.. I say 27-17 though. Both teams will probably be rusty early, but you cant be one dimensional and beat us.

Texas has 1 good runner and that's Colt McCoy.That's not good for them.I think their run D stats are inflated by the Big 12's love for the pass.Shipley will be a handfull and then some.Bama 31-20.

Bama has had over a month to prepare for Texas. They will respect the Longhorns, I see us coming out fast and furious, CMac might have a few plays that we haven't seen thus far up his sleeve. I see out Defense shutting down Colt McCoy and Texas' passing game, I think our DB's are going to be too much for their receivers. I foresee Colt being chased and not being able to run effectively. We will pull away from Texas and not let up on the throttle.

Unless we get a ST or defensive score or two, yall seem to think we score a ton of points. Our offensive philosophy (CNS' philosophy more specifically) is to control the ball and wear out the other team. I think that will be really true with UT like it was against UF b/c the best player on the opposing team is the QB. Like yall I think we win, but it'll be a one score game, something like 24-17 good guys.

we will wear them down and grind them. greg mc makes a couple nice plays. mr. heisman runs for 100 and our defense confuses McCoy. texas has no run game and wont develop one in a month. our defense is to much for texas and the SEC brings home its 4th consecutive BCSNC. Ro and Cody splash Coach Saban w gatorade finally.

1. Alabama is the more balanced football team on offense.
2. The running game for Texas is not good enough to beat Alabama.
3. Alabama's ground game is better than Texas'.
4. Alabama is the better team.
5. Alabama is the most physical team in college football and Bama's
physical style will pose problems for Texas' offense which is more of a
finesse offense.

re: The time has come!-pick the score-bama-texas! And give reasons!-NO smack with rivals

Texas is not to be taken lightly! All of this winning by 20+ points I don't see it.

Now let me give some reasons:

1. McCoy and Shipley are a great combination. And with the help of their 2nd and 3rd option they are dangerous. Texas recievers are fast. I see Texas spreading us out alot, by doing this it opens the middle up for scrambles, ie. Colt McCoy. I see them using a bunch of crossing, screen, and dump passes as well. I believe they might try to use it to set up their run.

2. Their defense is good as well. Sergio Kindle is a beast on the outside. He is going to be a load for Carpenter. As far as the middle of the D-line I don't see us having any problems attacking. But there secondary is outstanding led by Earl Thomas. He too is a ballhawking beast. As we all know they are extremely well coached.

3. Special Teams. Their return specialist is back and with Shipley they are very much a threat. With our troubles on kick-offs earlier in the season I am a little worried here. We also know their kicker is money. He showed the nation that in the Big 12 CG.

With the reasons I stated this why I believe we will be in a dog fight with us coming out on top 31-24.

I am extremely worried about McCoy's scrambling. I just hope we keep him contained when they spread us out. We deserve to be here and I have no doubt we will be ready, it's just when your desperate you do anything to succeed.

34-14 Alabama. I see a close, low scoring game the first couple of quarters then we bust a big play(Ingram's screen against Florida is a good example) and never look back. I don't see Texas winning this game unless they take a big lead into the fourth quarter. Saban has made it his mission since he took over that we win the fourth quarter. Let's bring #13 back to T-Town! Roll Tide!!!!

Bama 34
Texas 13

'Bama has no reason whatsoever to deviate from what got them to Pasadena to begin with.

Texas hasn't played a team that has committed itself to the run like we have.
Heck, Texas hasn't faced an offense that can be truly balanced and lethal
on the ground AND through the air.

Texas will be in the unfortunate position of "picking their own poison". I think we will start out in a chess match and take what the Texas D seems willing to give up. Eventually I think we will see an evolution into a punishing running game with most of the yards coming between the tackles. Oh we WILL see Texas load the box...at their own peril ! I'm sure we will see Peek get some catches, We may even have some success deep depending on how bad Texas wants to stop the run.

as far as the Defense is concerned...Texas has shown great difficulty when facing a defense that has a pulse. I think Mr McCoy may be losing a little sleep over his impending meetings with Mr McClain and his band of merry men. If not...he should be.

This will be much closer than most seem to think.

Bama's balance will be the difference. Texas will have some success in the passing game and a couple of damaging runs. The Tide wins in the fourth quarter with physical play.

Bama 27
Texas 23

As I've watched the SECCG a couple of extra times, I saw a number of points where Florida simply failed to execute (especially on some swing passes and crossing routes early on) that had they done so would probably have kept that game much closer through 3 quarters. Bama was the best team but those plays made the difference between it being a 7 point game and the 19 (should have been 21) that it turned out to be. I don't think Texas will fail to execute some of those plays and as a result, will keep it closer for longer. They'll move the ball until the field gets compressed enough for our DBs to be more effective and their FG kicker will put points on the board for them (maybe 3 or 4). While I believe we'll be able to run on them with some success, if we allow ourselves to get in 3rd and long, their speed on the corners will disrupt GMac enough to stop some drives and keep them in the game. Predict us up by 3 going into the fourth with us picking up a TD and them a FG to give the final margin. The intangible here is that there is no quit in the Texas kids as they've shown in several BCS games and even in their conference CG when their offense was getting pounded mercilessily. Think that will be what keeps them close though again, I think it will be pretty clear to all who the better team was on the field.

Now what I hope happens is that we play a flawless game, run over their D and impose our will in the second half. Give that scenario about a 15-25 percent chance of playing out and if it does, then the score is probably in line with Alisippi's initial mark!!

Stay focused on 6 seconds at a time for 60 minutes and I don't have any doubt who will have the most points when they finally look up at the board at the end!

I think the UT reasoning goes that UT didn't offer GMac, therefore, GMac cannot possibly beat them through the air. If you read their boards, they have no respect for our passing game or for Greg. Texas ego...

re: The time has come!-pick the score-bama-texas! And give reasons!-NO smack with rivals

31-17 Bama. The last touchdown for Texas will come late when we've already won the game. We will win the first half by a little bit and absolutely dominate the second half. I expect this game to be exactly like the Florida game, maybe even a little better.

Texas' defense is just not as good as Florida's. If I had to guess I'd say Florida's D line is a little bit better, and the Florida secondary is just peerless in college football. Their offense is better too...I mean they have a solid O line, good backs, and absolute playmakers in Cooper and Hernandez, and Tebow. If all of those guys combined only put up 13 points on us, I don't think Texas will be able to do much.

The main reason we will win is no one player will try to do more than they have to...I expect all of our guys to play a natural, comfortable game. Colt McCoy knows he will have to have a Vince Young moment to win the game. He can't look foward to a great O line or receivers who will make plays (other than Shipley), and he doesn't have great running backs to bail him out of trouble when the passing game isn't hot.

And God I hope GMac gets MVP. That would .... Texas off so bad...you know all the Texas fans are expecting another VY performance. For our QB, who their fans, at least, don't respect to get the MVP award would be awesome. What would be even crazier is if he managed more passing yards. That would send Longhorn fans over the edge.

Alabama will wear down the Texxas defense. Texas will likely make a few big plays, but it won't be enough. It may be close late, but a Saban-patented long and grinding drive will finally put the game out of reach.

I think we all would love to see a loaded box with the Texas D daring GMac to throw it !

That could get very expensive, very quickly indeed.
