Mods, if this is posted in the wrong section, forgive me and move it if you wish. Yesterday I received a phone call from a long time friend who gave me the tough news that his 10 year old granddaughter had been diagnosed with Leukemia. He wanted to know if I knew any one at the university that might send his granddaughter something from the school that would be a help, something that she would cherish. I told him that I did not know of anyone, but I would call the Athletic office to see what I could do. Sadie, my friends granddaughter likes soccer, and basketball. She had just gotten a pair of Alabama Crocs. I called the school and told them what was going on. They put me in touch with a lady in the womens basketball. After talking to Vicky Plant, she will be sending an autographed womens basketball and a team photo to Sadie, my friends granddaughter. I could not have been prouder of My University, than I was yesterday. Roll Tide !!

The University has always stepped up and done whatever they could to boost the spirits of people like your friends granddaughter. I'm glad they take the time to do it.

I was not lucky enough to get to go to college, much less to one as great as Alabama. I can't count the stories that I have heard similar to this one that is connected to Alabama. Makes me proud to just be from Alabama.............my son and daughter will be attending the greatest university in the country. Bet on it.

Refreshing, in the midst of true hardship and the sometimes sorrows of life. Yes the University does all of us proud at times like this and is a clear reminder of what is most important in our lives. Bama Rev, you too make us proud and your friend is fortunate to have your friendship and he knew the "Rev" would welcome lending a hand. I'm glad you shared this with us, I needed something else on the board... Thanks and the best to the family at their time of need.

I, too was not able to attend college until many years later. I still dream of attending the University of Alabama sometime in the near future. I am proud to associate myself with this University, even if it means only being a fan.

Best wishes go out to that little girl and may God bless their family.

:) Thanks for all the kind words shared about Sadie. She wears the Crimson. My friend , which is her Grandad likes Bama but his blood is orange (ut). Thankfully Sadies dad loves the Tide. Irreguardless, they are a fine family. Pray for them.
