Thoughts on yesterday's uniforms?

I liked them...a lot. Not because of the barely noticeable houndstooth trim...but because that freakin SEC rocketship logo and the giant UA 175 patches were GONE.

The Nike swoosh I've never minded and, in fact, I think it represents quality.

So I'd be all for keeping the new ones on a permanent basis if it meant the patches (especially the sec rocketship) would NEVER return.

Someone mentioned the lettering on the jerseys. The player's names were done in the same type of font that Bama used during the timeframe of the 315 game in 1981. If I recall, Coach Bryant didn't have player names on the jerseys until about the '80/'81 season, and that's what they looked like.

I didn't notice if the style of the jersey numbers was like the old ones. I'd have to go back and look at the old games to tell. It would make sense that they were if they cared enough to get the player name font correct.

All in all, a VERY subtle tribute, and it was very fitting to honor the 315 game and CPB.

I quite liked them. The different material looked really great. Everyone looked really good in them. The houndstooth pattern was very subtle, which was fantastic.

I don't know if I'd like them for an 'everyday' uniform, but I thought it was well done for this one time.

I thought the jerseys looked really good for a one time thing. However, I thought the whole purpose of the jerseys was to commemorate 315. I didn't once hear the CBS crew mention the uni's or the reason. Did they do anything at the game? If not, they kinda missed the point...or just used the 315 as an excuse to do a special jersey with Nike.

I loved the jersey's!!

.........since most of us do NOT like to mess with the uni's that Bama has, I think the "minor" touch of having the hounds-tooth piping around the neck of the Jersey's is a nice touch to commemorate Bear's victories and his spot in the record books!!

I also liked the hats and caps that I saw on TV that the people in the stands were also wearing!

CBS did NOT even mention it; or if they did I must have been gone for a break or something!

Did the announcer talk about the jersey's to the crowd in the stands??

Anyway, I think Bama should have games where they use the "throw-back" jersey's too...

RTR!!!!:BigA:

True it was a different material and the names and numbers were a little different as well. The names and numbers were stitched on instead of the iron on ones we use now and the numbers seemed to be a little larger. I like the stitched numbers alot more than the iron on or screen printed ones. I think they look a lot classier. I would like those jerseys alot better than the ones we have now (-) the collar on an everygame basis. The collar did not bother me, but not every game though.

If it was to celebrate 315 we should have worn them against Auburn. Never forget that game and the great runs by Linnie Patrick.

I loved the uniforms!! I wish we would wear them the rest of the season or permanently. I thought they were classy......like Freddie Blassie!!

i liked em so much i wish we would make that our permanent uniform...its about time we updated something

It was nice for the 25th anniversary of 315, but a perament houndstooth addition to our uniforms? That'd be a little over the top don't u think? We need to leave it in the past. Not forget it, but leave it.

I saw the link for the jerseys, but does anyone have a link to buy the houndstooth baseball caps?

I thought those were really cool. I need to buy one for my son. (you have to start them early you know!)

I didn't notice if the style of the jersey numbers was like the old ones. I'd have to go back and look at the old games to tell.

Numbers, font wise, were identical to the current ones, except sewn on twill rather than screened.

I think we should wear them once more, against the boogs, and then retire them.
