We had 2 of our ticket renewals denied with no prior warning. Apparently now that TP is fully digital tickets and integrated with StubHub, they are tracking sales and denying renewal based on some unpublished threshold of sales. Typically we go to 1 or 2 games and sell the rest. I would have gone to A&M and Auburn this year, but we ended up not going to a single game this season for the pair in question due to several reasons. #1 the home schedule was pretty bad, #2 A&M fell on fall break and we were at the beach with the kids, and #3 Auburn game I had a 8am work flight the following morning.

Anyway now having to appeal with no idea what the outcome will be. For every one else, I think it would be safe to assume you can't sell an entire season package now and not get on a list. So, I'd be sure to make sure you use at least a game or 2 a season.

Well. Unless you are high in points or just can’t bare the thought of haggling for tickets, then being a tide prider is about pointless. The university is always going to find someway to stab you in the back or do some experiment that is going to tick people off.

Honestly though, I’ve found it irritating that when I sit in my friend’s TP section for a Tennessee, LSU, or Auburn game that the row right behind me is full of rival fans and is mostly empty the rest of the year because TP members rather just sell their season tickets than go to a game.

But whatever, people do with their money how they please.

I get this sentiment. At the same time though the university is trying to have their cake and eat it too. Over half the students are out of state. They expect those to stay in state and join TP? They don’t expect any out of state people to join? I’m 4+ hrs away. My time is valuable, and I’m not wasting it going to Austin Peay. Also I think it is BS they charge a PSL then try and tell people how many games they have to go to and what they can and can’t do on the secondary market. On top of that they give zero heads up. I could have just ate the ticket costs.

Im really not even sure it is worth it at this point for 1 or maybe 2 good games a year, but the wife is PO’d and it will be appealed.

What they are doing is what Live Nation does to fans because they know people are going to pay stupid prices to see matchups like Bama vs Texas, they also know that many people on the waiting list are probably going to cancel after a year of paying a hefty donation and only care about 2-3 games a year.

What they are doing makes perfect sense. It’s cold but understandable when you consider attendance and tide pride support is not where they need it.

But it goes back to what I said all those years ago when they started charging people to be on the waiting list. Under Bryne they have gone full corporate and being a Tide pride member is now pointless unless you have enough points to get face value road and playoff tickets. The university was then trying to find a method of getting free money for nothing and it would eventually lead to them to control the secondary market for ticket sales.

But when I brought this up, everyone said “You are just not committed” or “you should look at that $25 as helping the university”. I knew at some point the Fat Elephant was going to reveal itself.

I feel for those Curry and Stallings era fans who were affected by the renovations. But really anyone from the Shula era on I really question why anyone is still apart of this racket unless is about the specific seats. Because these last 4 -5 years have been nothing but bad news for TP fans.

We live in Tuscaloosa, so it’s easy for us to attend. But I’m curious….can you sell on a site other than StubHub?
You could do a private sale and then transfer via the ticket portal. I've not tried to manually list on StubHub since they went digital. I'm not sure if you can list it there without the number. End of the day it has to be transferred to an individual's email or phone number so they can add it to the app.

This is sad to read. FTR, I'm not and have never been a member of TP, but I've attended a boatload of games in the past 45+ years.

This past year I took my family to a game (6 of us) and it was the first time I'd had to do tickets digitally. It was a pain in the rear. I had all six tickets on my phone and when the lady tried to scan them at the gate only about 4 of them scanned so she said, "just go on in."

It's just a shame everything costs so much and it's such a hassle to do one of my favorite things in the world. I really feel sorry for the older fans who probably detest this 100x more than me.

How did you learn of the denial?

Yeah I chip in for season tickets with my family. I pay for one of our seats for the year but I live out of state so I just let whoever wants it use it. Family, friends, etc. It gets used most of the time by someone I know. And then I am able to attend one or two games a year, usually the Auburn game when it’s Home since I’m visiting for Thanksgiving.

This year when I went to the Auburn game I was almost completely surrounded by Auburn fans, in the Bama section. The game was still enjoyable but it is annoying having to put up with so many rival fans at a home game when you can only make a few games a year!

Have renewals gone out or is this something they sent out in advance ?
We’ve been in TP since the second year, but haven’t seen anything for 2023 yet. And no, we haven’t sold many, if any, tickets. Also checked my TP / CTF account, and there’s nothing pending for 2023 yet.

It’s about money. If you’re not making new contributions over and above the club fee, and you’re selling most or all of your tickets, they’re thinking that you don’t care anymore. Plus, they don’t want a big presence of opposing fans in TP sections near people who do contribute more than the minimum, and who do attend.

Yeah, it’s harsh. Time / Seniority / Loyalty doesn’t mean what it used to...the dollar trumps all.

Used to be, once you got your seats, as long as you kept on paying the club fee and buying the season tickets, they were yours. Apparently, that’s no longer the case. So I’m curious as to whether they’re implementing a minimum point total to qualify for each level.

Even if so (and I don’t know that that’s the case), they should have given you a heads-up so you had time to make a considered decision to continue or not.

They still have to be transferred.

I transfer two of my tickets for most games to either my dad (the majority) or else friends or relatives. But I'm making it a point not to sell or allow to go unused more than one or two games a year, so that my usage stats stay good.

Think about it - the University wants (as the fans should) the stands to be as full of Bama fans as possible. They don't want empty seats and they don't want rival fans sitting in our seats.

I think that's great. Screw the scalpers, organized or not.

Now, if we could also do something about the supposed "fans" who do nothing but sit on their hands the whole game...

It sounds like they are doing to season ticket holders what they did to student tickets years ago. Miss more than 2 games or sell more than 1 ticket, enter the game too late, and you get penalty points stacked against you that prevent you from buying tickets next season.
