Shouldn't 'contribution' be changed to 'extortion?'

I know, you don't "have" to do it but guess what? They aren't going to drop the price after two or three 3-9 years.

I have been in Tide Pride since 2006 and it has got to a point where I don't know if it is really worth it anymore. If you want to attend 2 or 3 games a year, buy your tickets from ebay, stub hub or even a scalper at the game. Unless you go to every home game, the season package is not really worth it. I have problems getting rid of the non-conference games and all I want is face value for the tix.

Original contribution levels:

Century Club - $100
Bama Club - $200
Touchdown Club - $300
Crimson Tide Club - $500
Scholarship Club - $1,000

I've been a club member since 1991 (fourth year of Tide Pride's existence).

I just found it easier/less expensive to pick the 2-4 games I want to go to and pay the scalpers $150-300 a game and get a better seat

I've been a century club member since 96 and at one time I held touchdown club bdo and century club but once I fulfilled my obligation to keep the bdo seats, I think it was 03 or 04 I gave up my century club seats and by bdo seats became touchdown club and a few years later I was lowered to century when TP re zoned their seats.

I got the notice in the mail today as well. I luckily joined TP as soon as I graduated in 2004, so it was perfect timing to get in. I am not sure how large the waiting list is now, but I have been trying for several years in a row to change from 2 seats to 4 and/or at least get 2 seats somewhere else in the stadium even if that requires moving up a level to no avail. I will try again this year, but I doubt I'll have any luck. As others mentioned, it is beginning to get a little questionable on is it even worth it. At least this coming year's home schedule is better for big games, it still is one of those where 2-3 games a season attendance is ideal for most families, so that makes it hard to justify.

Of course, none of us like to pay more...but we all know it takes a lot of money to run this athletic department at this high level. At least we are getting a great product for the money. Many schools charge similar amounts without near the results...think Tennessee,
Georgia, AU, LSU, Notre Dame. Also I believe we have competent management under Bill Battle.

Saying all this...I am a little afraid all of us regular fans a getting priced out.

Yeah I'm 3+ hours away. I usually go to the Atlanta games and pay stub hub prices (which is 2 hours away). I've been to more games away than I have home games (only 2). I've made the last 4-5 SEC Championship games and Texas openers last year and this year. I'm glad there are people that want to go all the time tho, just not for me. I typically want 1-2 live games a year tops. My DVR and comfy couch are the best seats in town...lol

Just be patient. I think a couple of seasons after CNS retires, you will have your pick of seats.

Well, as much as its no fun to continually pay more, increases to Tide Pride contributions have actually lagged overall inflation by a significant amount.

Went to www.usinflationcalculator.com, and found the average CPI for 1987 (the first year of TP) was about 118. For 2015 it was right at 237. Given the trends of the first 10 months of 2016, the average is looking like it'll be around 240. Point being, it's just about exactly doubled from 1987 to now -- a 100% increase.

Whereas Tide Pride is up between 50% and 60%, depending on which club you're in. Yeah, we can debate the calculation of the CPI, and the benefits (or lack thereof) of Tide Pride, but there's no getting around a gap that big.

By contrast, the S&P index was at 250.50 on 1/1/1988. Friday, it closed at 2,258 -- up a whopping 900%. Even acknowledging that it was a 29-year roller coaster ride, that's a pretty sporty reward for sticking it out.

Keep in mind also that Bill Curry made well under $1 million a year, and I'd be surprised if there was an assistant who made $250K. Our facilities were among the most outdated in the SEC. We were skating on the reputation built by Bryant, and that gravy train was grinding to a halt.

Point of all this being: Yeah, it sucks that you can't get something for nothing. Everything costs more now than it did in 1987. Tide Pride is up, but not as much as most things. Anybody want to return to 1987?

I don't know, maybe. This was pretty fly back in the day:

I am amazed (even with Bama's incredible success) they can sell out the stadium as much as they do. I know most of my friends who used to get season tickets rarely go. Could be just age:) but weighing convenience of TV with expense of going to the game makes it easy to go to one or maybe two games instead of season tickets. And tickets are easy to get elsewhere, but often not easy to get what you paid for them. I didn't get championship game tickets this year because I wasn't sure I could go and wasn't sure I could get my money back in selling them if I had to (of course they are over 600 a ticket).
