I'll hit the high points...

  • Says that Texas actually is a bigger threat to Alabama regarding the services of Dre Kirkpatrick, namely because of the Will Muschamp connection, than USC. Nevertheless, he still expects he will end up at Alabama.

  • Mississippi State and LSU lead for Josh Boyd.

  • Alabama leads for LA defensive end Darrington Sentimore, but says that LSU has not offered, and that they will be tough to beat if they do.

  • As for players making decisions in the near future, Bone says look out for Anthony Orr, William Ming, and Mike Marrow. It sounds like he expects all three to be Alabama commitments.

  • Bone states Alabama is still in great shape for SC defensive end Chris Bonds, but that the Gamecocks are coming on strong and that he likes USC as well.

  • Says it would be a surprise if Alabama landed either Marlon Brown or Ryan Mossakowski.

  • States South Carolina safety prospect Damario Jeffery may commit before the end of summer.

  • Gives Auburn the lead for Jamar Travis, though he notes Travis has said that both Alabama and Auburn are equal.

  • Regarding Morgan Moses, he says he thinks he will take an official visit to Tuscaloosa.

Chat Transcript Part ll
thomasas06: Hey AB, have you heard anything on RB's Kendrick Hardy from MS or Christine Michael from TX? Alabama have a shot with these guys?

Andrew Bone: Hardy is very interested in Alabama. I am not sure about Michael. I have not spoken with him yet.

Crimson Reign: What players out there that are uncommitted as of now that you would say are "must haves" for Saban and Bama?

Andrew Bone: I know Alabama would really like to land playes like Dre Kirkpatrick, Kendall Kelly, Morgan Moses, Nico Johnson, Tana Patrick, William Ming, Damario Jeffrey and Johnnie Farms.

Re: Tide Sports Chat Transcript Parts I and ll (6/11)

Here is an article from the Tde Sports Recruiting Board that has some good info, even if it is a little dated now.

ANDREW BONE: Big-name recruits on campus last week
A player who has really escalated on the recruiting scene is Montez Robinson, Scout.com three-star defensive end from Avon High School in Indiana. Robinson measured 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, and clocked a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at the Under Armour/Scout.com combine in Cincinnati. Robinson has collected scholarship offers, since the combine, from Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois and Oklahoma State. Robinson’s most recent offer came from the Tide, with a visit expected to Tuscaloosa in the very near future.

The Alabama native moved to Indiana before his junior season and made a big impact for a team that won its conference championship and finished with an 8-3 record. Robinson recorded 69 total tackles, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and 19 quarterback hurries from his defensive end position in 2007.

@ 6'4" 230 with a low 4.4 - 40 this guy is a monster-in-waiting! :eek2: With that kind of speed, will he be a LB at the next level Surf? Heck if he can catch, he'd make a great receiver prospect!

Montez Robinson was the MVP at the Cincinnati, OH. Under Armour/Scout.com Combine out of more than 200 prospects. Alabama is recruiting him as a DE and with his speed, strength and athleticism he is considered one of the best football prospects in the Midwest. In track he made it to regionals in the 400m dash and has also participates in shot put and discus. He grew up in Woodstock, AL. just north of Tuscaloosa before moving to Indiana several years ago.

Honestly with his size and athleticism he could play either position IMO. I could see a scenario where he could put on some added weight and become an absolute nightmare for an OT off the edge though. If his burst (first step) is anywhere near as good as his top end speed I think DE (or Jack LB) would be an ideal position for a guy with his skills.

Re: Tide Sports Chat Transcript Parts I and ll (6/11)

Truth be told, he sounds like the perfect 4-3 DE. Might need to add a good amount of weight to play DE in the 3-4 or at least for Coach Saban, so LB would probably be the case. TE sounds pretty good as well.

Can you imagine the nightmare for ANY OT trying to block anyone with that kind of speed off the corner! Sure would make a QB nervous! :)

Chat Transcript Part lll
Crimson Reign: Do you think the "Saban Rule" has had any noticeable effects on Bama other than Saban not being able to get to lots of high schools? Do you agree with the rule?

Andrew Bone: I think head coaches should visit high schools in the spring. Coach Saban is coming up with new ways to talk with recruits via video teleconferencing. I don't think it has much of an effect on Alabama's recruiting efforts.

InSabanWeTrust9: AB where does stavion lowe end up bama has offered and he likes the sec?

Andrew Bone: Lowe is very interested in Alabama. He was expected to visit Tuscaloosa Monday.
