this can be debated from now on but at least give MI the chance to finish his career. If he leaves top five career rushing yards he will be the best back in UA history.

Linnie Patrick might rank as high as 1 if talent and potential were being considered most. He had the potential to be the best back we've ever seen at Alabama. It's a shame he couldn't quite stay out of the doghouse...

Three is tough. Even though he's just a sophomore, you can't discount what Ingram has done -- winning the Heisman alone. Not to mention he's already cracked our all-time Top Ten. Our career rushing leader would still be Bobby Humphrey had he not missed basically a year due to injury.

You can't have the discussion without Shaun or Musso. Tony Nathan and Major Ogilvie played in an era where they didn't necessarily get the carries that some of the guys have gotten over the years.

The older generation would have Bobby Marlow in the mix.

Ken Darby sits 3rd on the all-time list. Dennis Riddle is also there (Top 10). And one of our more under-rated backs in my opinion was Johnny Davis. Anyone that saw him in the wishbone knows that he was an absolute machine. He's also in the Top 10.

Based on production:
1.Mark Ingram
2.Bobby Humphrey
3.Shaun Alexander

Based on toughness:
1. Johnny Musso
2. Mark Ingram
3. Shaud Williams

:BigA:
Hard to disagree with any of this. Musso will remain my all-time favorite, with Wilbur Jackson high on my list, as well.

Thanks for bringing up Johnny Davis. I practiced against him in high school. My bell still rings when I think about trying to tackle him.

I ranked mine solely on the years i've been watching Bama football myself (since 1989). I just missed seeing Bobby Humphrey but I think he could easily be in the top 3. Sherman Williams and Shaud Williams get honorable mentions. Before the national title game even when MI had won the Heisman I had a tough time putting him ahead of Shaun. I knew by the time his career ended he would easily pass SA in my mind. But with him helping to lead us to a national title I think that pushes him to the top IMO. Shaun led us to a SEC title but not the ultimate prize. Maybe MI will get an NFL MVP one day like SA. But the first Heisman winner and national title pushes him to the top for me.

Right now, I would say:

1) Shaun Alexander
2) Mark Ingram
3) Bobby Humphrey

Two years from now I think the answer will be:

1) Trent Richardson
2) Shaun Alexander
3) Mark Ingram

He's not high on the career rushing list but there was a certain bruising FB with the last name of Moore that I still like watching on ESPN classic.

It's hard for me to rank them especially since Ingram is still playing. Bobby Humphrey is without question one of the top three RB's to play at Alabama IMO. Right now I would probably rank them Humphrey, Alexander and Ingram with a star by Ingram's name because we don't know his final career stats. If Ingram has another year with 1,500 yards rushing I would probably rank him number one.

Johnny Davis has been mentioned. I think it's great that he is being mentioned, but I would classify him as strictly a FB. He was an outstanding FB and I would rank him as the best FB to ever play at Alabama.

Back to the RB's, I can't argue with Musso and Wilbur Jackson on this list. These were to great RB's IMO.
