Just heard Taulia‘s waiver was denied , so he is no longer transferring, he is declaring for the draft. Im mostly against career college players, but it seems silly to grant players 7-8-9 years but deny his claim. Saban wrote a letter on his behalf detailing the fact he only played 5 games, one game over limit for a freshman redshirt. In Two of those games, Miss ST and Texas AM , he only played 2 snaps.

I can’t tell you how many people argued with me on Facebook about his eligibility. I kept telling people he didn’t have any left, and they kept saying “hE nEvEr ReDsHiRtEd”. I simply laughed at them and said “You can’t use up all your eligibility and THEN redshirt. There’s nothing left to redshirt”. One guy ended up reporting me for false information lol. Casual fans are really what killed college football. They’re the ones that wanted the transfer portal and paying players. It’s THEIR fault.

The letter coming from Saban probably did not help Taulia's cause, considering the number of rules changes the NCAA put in place to make his job harder.

Germie Bernard is now in the portal. WR out of Washington and a guy I highlighted before as a guy that can come in and replace Bond. That would be a huge imo. Parker Brailsford is freshman who started at Center for Washington as well and another guy I had circled.

Agreed. The portal is why I don't put much stock into what we rank in recruiting. Players can be here one year and gone the next. We've also benefited from the portal so it is a double-edged sword. I do think a 30 day window is too long. Maybe 14 day window after a coaching change, especially with all of the tampering that's going on in CFB without a change.

I don't think there should be a separate window opened at all when coaches leave or are fired. There are already two times during the year that they are allowed to transfer without penalty. That should be plenty. Frankly, I think it should only be once a year after the spring semester. You're telling me that now a one year commitment is too much to ask of these guys. That's ridiculous.

Just a few years ago CNS was catching unmitigated hell for not offering guaranteed 4 year scholarships. Then it became “total cost of attendance.” Then it was the transfer portal. Then it was NIL. The only way to fix this is make the players employees of the University of their respective schools. Cap that salary and all should be well. The kicker for that is Title IX which I’m not sure even exists anymore. This is a complete mess. Top tier D1 athletics need to form a 64 team league, manage it correctly, and blow the NCAA up.
