FSU starting DE Patrick Payton entering transfer portal
The Florida native has appeared in all 26 games for Florida State during the last two years. He's totaled 73 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Payton recorded a career-high six sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss, and ten pass deflections after developing into a starter for the program in 2023.

Dang, there are some very surprising names in the portal this year...

Trending toward the B-Ball dilemma where the year-to-year roster is almost unrecognizable. I still watch Bama B-ball sometimes but not like I did when CNO first arrived. I know it's not the same considering the personnel numbers but it's slowly killing my football interest. The combination of NIL & Portal has pretty much ruined it for me.

It's getting tougher for me as well. I loved watching the young men grow and develop as players. Guys like Blake Sims and Brian Robinson are some of my favorites because they worked hard and got their chance to shine. It was great to see. What's blowing me away is the. number of real contributors jumping in the portal not just guys that can't wait their turn or are just buried on a depth chart with no way forward.

There are some of these players entering the portal, that with their level of talent, could be a take no matter what as long as they are the right fit and wouldn't be a team cancer. True free agency has been unleashed, and I'm sure CNS will navigate it the right way with adding the right pieces.

Miami, A&M, Texas, and a few others are going to load up. I’m guessing within the next 2 to 3 years roster salaries will be higher than many NFL teams, if not all of them.

Any Bama Billionaires out there that wanna buy some players contribute to the NIL collective to help us get some players provide support for the athletic program in this brave new world?

The incentive structure here makes no sense other than from a monetary standpoint.

Bama might need a few players on defense depending on who declares for the draft.
Tell you what, we have 20 verbally committed for the Early Signing period but we may just hold off on the high school guys and snag a few veteran players for immediate impact as long as their stand up to the character test.

If he is, it would be late first round. I get it, but he could be top 10 if he stays another year.
…and this is where NIL comes into play.
How much can he make next year in college -v- what his rookie number would be as a low first round pick…unfortunately he’d make more at Bama.
Then go top 10 next year and the money’s even better. Long term play, in this day and age, stay in school…(which it should be anyway.)
