Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

What an odd combination of coaches.

I wonder how this will work out. I can't see BOB being awesome, but perhaps he'll bring just enough difference to OSU to unlock something they've been missing.
I believe there is wide agreement on here that BOB as offensive coordinator is a QB killer. Sayin and family will likely rue the day they signed with Ohio State.

Ok, so the coaches/adm are hands off the nil deals...and the nil's are handled by collectives and are not "offers" to get players to said school...but yet players "commit" and "sign scholarships" with schools to play a sport. But its in between (or all around) the 2 official signing periods...and the coach knows (i'm guessing thru esp) exactly how he's gonna handle his scholarship numbers before anyone hasn't been contacted about a signing bonus not on an official signing day. Got it.
This is exactly how Pat Dye had the system set up at awbern so that there would be no paper trail if the nzaa ever came around. It was very effective as the whole $cam knewton fiasco proved...

CA, Booker never entered the portal, correct? So how is it a “coaching staff” contacts him without it being considered tampering if he never declared his intent to entertain the notion of transferring?
I don't know - I think there's a TON of tampering going on. I'm guessing that as long as it's done via third party it's going to be hard to tie it to the school.

First of all, Booker would have to report it. Even then, it might not be a violation if it went through numerous back channels...

All of this won't be fixed until a program like Michigan has to go through it.

I'm impressed with the positive attitudes of our guys. I'm seeing leadership in several. Especially true freshman Jalen Mbakwe. He's one of a handful leading the charge.
Mbakwe is tabbed to be a DB, but when he has the ball in his hands it is fun to watch. He reminds me of a ball in a pin ball machine. He twists, turns, and changes directions so quick it is hard to bring him down. I would assume with his elite speed he will return kicks. It would be great to have a few offensive plays where he and Ryan Williams would be on the field at the same time.

My thoughts are the portal rule regarding HC changes is a real disservice to the players/student athletes. Couple things (1) it seems like a tremendous win for everyone in the game that is operating far on the fringes and/or unethically (2) we should remember that many of these guys aren't really equipped to make life-changing decisions at the drop of a hat and, at that point, they don't even know what their options are.

My suggestion would be that the portal open for 2/3/4 weeks but not until 2/3/4 weeks after the coach leaves. Old coach leaves, new coach comes in, everyone has time to evaluate and make thoughtful decisions. Just my two cents.
