Whatever happened to sticking it out. The guy is the starter. All kinds of " fringe " benefits. He will only get better. And he just walks away. These guys could not of played at any school, for any of the old school coaches. Can you imagine what Woody Hayes would of done to him.

I understand your point, but something can be said for proving him ( Day ) wrong. You grow by competing; in a way and from lessons achieved by no other means. If he couldn't win the job next season, then look for a different opportunity. To me he gave up to quickly. Fight for what you want...then fight to keep it.

The article doesn’t specify whether the “poor treatment” was from the staff or from the fan base…

I would assume fan base, but by not specifying, the author is intentionally leading the readers to question the coaching staff.

I don’t see this as being any different than the way many people within the Alabama fan base treated Jalen Milroe during the first 2/3 of this season.

There have been rumors around this kid since his HS days that he's not a great addition to a locker room. Only rumors, but if they are correct it would make sense that Bama hasn't pursued him.

Then again he may well end up in Tuscaloosa - Saban has taken chances on guys with a history of behavioral issues before.

Maybe he told McCord that he’d have to compete for the job just like players compete for all 24 positions. I don’t know. But I find it hard to believe that Day would make such a statement in today’s world of NIL and the transfer portal.
