Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

There have always been the “entitled”, those whose egos were over-inflated as youngsters and who expect to be named the starter the moment they set foot on campus.

If there was a legitimate reason for its existence up until now, and the power to regulate transfers is removed by law, then to me, that opens the door to the maelstrom that will follow. Transferring four or five times in a college career buys you what, an honorary degree in transportation???
That sure would be an expensive “driver’s license”

Looks like Carson Beck is holding Georgia football hostage. He wants $4mil or he will transfer to the NFL. If I were Kirby, that wouldn’t be a hard decision… Bye Felicia.
This is where I quit being a CFB fan. 2023 may be my last year.
I just roll with the punches. What are you going to replace it with? Don't like it but there is nothing else better. I swore off pro ball for a while because of the kneeling protest. Eventually, I caved in from boredom.

I really like mma and I got a subscription to MLB.tv last year. I really enjoyed watching baseball last summer. I can replace it if I have to. I really only watched SEC games this year. That’s very unusual for me. I just didn’t want to watch anything that wasn’t directly Bama related. I’ve had to go find Michigan games online to watch them before Bama plays them.

Is this verified? Honestly, I cannot believe that this is actually true. If I am incorrect, I apologize. This is nothing personal, I just cannot believe that this kid thinks he is worth this amount of money. Can this actually be real?

Well, unlike the Marvin Harrison situation, where there's just no way Ohio State matches money the NFL would actually pay him... 4 million is not out of line with what Beck is projected to make in the NFL.

Sounds like he's hedging his bets. He looks like he'd be somewhere around a third round pick, that should give him a contract worth in the neighborhood of 5 million. No guarantees there, but if he can get 4 million from Georgia he has no reason at all to leave.

Milroe could turn into an interesting situation as well...

Lots of smoke on Twitter about it. $4M or NFL. Letting it roll for now, until something official comes out.

Honestly, we may never know.

This is kind of me. But it absolutely sucks. You used to get to "know" players over a four year or so period of time. Certainly compared to now and the future, rosters were stable. Players coming and going used to be the province of professional sports. No longer.

Yeah but Tommy Bowden was the Head Coach that recruited Harper, signed him and promised him “the first carry of the season” against Alabama in 2008, not Dabo Swinney.

Coach kept his word, but kid couldn't hold onto ball. Fumble! Bama ball!

Tons of great things to do vs sitting and watching football all weekend, every weekend. Over the past 3-5 years, I have become simply a casual observer (& I'm a guy that used to have a hard time sleeping on Friday nights before any Alabama game due to the anticipation/excitement).

Looking back at all of the time that I completely wasted, I'm somewhat ashamed that I cared so much about the accomplishments of OTHER men (that I didn't even know).....

Can't get those wasted years back, but I can determine the use of my time going forward. Casual observer only for me now.

c/p for Saturday Down South.

Beck’s NIL compensation package more than likely needs to be at least the same amount (or more than) he’d earn for an annual salary in his 1st year in the NFL — not the the entirety of the rookie contract he signs.

In other words, last year’s No. 10 overall pick (Bears OT Darnell Wright) signed a deal worth $20.9 million — with a 1st-year salary cap number of $3.8 million.

AMF adios my friend. 4 million a year what does a 19 or 20 year old do with that amount of money? My days of watching college football maybe coming to a close.

That's called "asking" price. He will be negotiated down and everyone will be happy...

He would not be a first round pick if he came out now.
