Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

When or will Ty Simpson announce he's transferring seeing that Milroe has officially announced he's staying for his senior season?
I would believe that Ty and his Dad know exactly where they stand and are going to stay at least through the play off games unless someone makes an offer that is impossible to reject. Even then I don't believe it will become public knowledge before the play off games are completed. Of course my opinion only.

He’s got more leverage before they go barreling into the portal. Plus if they lose Raiola and the backup already left, he sort of has them in a bind.
I understand the logistics of it. But at some point, someone is going to have to tell these guys to hit the road and take their blackmail with them.

I can see this kind of attitude severely affecting the overall morale of teams and essentially tearing them apart from inside.

Guys, I dont think Ty simpson will enter transfer portal. Only way he does that if Lonergan actually is that good.
There are decent QB’s in the portal with much more experience than Ty has.
Unless someone specific “recruits” him (which is technically illegal), he’ll be taking a risk. Knowing he’s backing up a dual threat who’s more subject to injury may matter - then again it may not.

I think if Ty Simpson transfers, it WILL NOT be to a competitive P5 school, meaning one that has realistic aspirations of being in the NC hunt. As someone mentioned above, there are quarterbacks in the portal with more playing experience under their belts and further along in their development, that will probably be more attractive to the programs with realistic title hopes.

This. It doesn't do any good for Simpson or any other qbs to transfer right now. Now, after spring ball, that's another story.

Maybe an Oregon St. type that just lost their starting QB or the heir apparent to the transfer. Plenty of good schools that would improve with TS as QB. I really appreciate his attitude which sounds like it’s been great and very positive for the team. Hoping he finds success but certainly hope he finishes the ride with this fun team which he is ABSOLUTELY a part of!!!

Simpson's dad is a coach. Maybe Ty wants to be one also. What school would look better on your resume than The University of Alabama. And having played for HOF head coach Nick Saban.

Is this verified? Honestly, I cannot believe that this is actually true. If I am incorrect, I apologize. This is nothing personal, I just cannot believe that this kid thinks he is worth this amount of money. Can this actually be real?
Im sure it isnt 100% accurate, none of these reports are. But, I do believe Beck is asking for a substantial pay raise, probably in the 1-2 mil range. Either way, bye. He is projected as a third rounder, that is probably in the $ 5 million over four years category. Let him go. On a related note, we may have dodged a bullet when he decommitted..

In past years, I think Simpson transferring would be a given and would make sense. But this year has brought a whole new level of QB portal activity when you have established starters of major P5 programs transferring. A top 25 program isn’t going to roll the dice and bet on the come on a player like Simpson when there are guys like McCord, McCall, Ward, etc. out there. A mid major or lower level P5 like Vandy is probably the best he could do and have a chance at starting, and it has nothing to do with ability or a lack thereof.

I’ve said before that Simpson’s smart move would be to stay. Develop one more year, and start in 2025. Let Sayin develop a year (Bryce Young did, and look how that turned out). Then see what the situation is for 2026.

Plus, Milroe’s playing style leads to hits. You never know when an impact will be from just the wrong angle and he’s all of a sudden out for a few weeks — Bryce Young’s shoulder in 2022. So Simpson getting some starts in 2024 isn’t out of the question.

Regarding Sayin: He’s all that right now. But QBs are really hard to project from HS to college, and lots of 5* QB don’t reach expectations. He might be the next Bryce Young. He might be the next Philip Sims or Ty Buchner or Perry Cuda. You just don’t know.

Ty’s dad is a coach and he has a family support structure that most kids don’t have. So I’m hopeful. Still, it’s a different world now, and this logic might no longer hold.

2025 will be Sayin's sophomore season.

If the NCAA loses its ability to regulate transfers, why should it further exist?
If the NCAA isn’t allowed to regulate sports transfers, then basically the courts are saying that there can be zero regulation of college athletics whatsoever. I mean if you can’t restrict transfers then how can you restrict scholarships? Sports leagues have to have rules. The player advocates are getting way out over their skis imo.
