Do all scholarship athletes, regardless of the sport, receive NIL money or just the stars? I somehow, foolishly thought when all of this NIL situation started that there would be a standard amount across the board. I obviously did not know a damn thing. I realize these kids need more than just a scholarship to get by in college and, so many of them do come from very poor and underprivileged families. It seems to me that some governing body should monitor the NIL money and ensure that each player gets some amount. Oh well, maybe next time.

Not possible, as NIL is supposed to be a player monetizing their name, image, or likeness. It's NOT supposed to be a salary for every player, though payouts from something like a new NCAA CFB video game should be dispersed to all roster participants, imo.

What the NIL decision is supposed to mean is Jalen Milroe can monetize (get paid) for appearances in TV commercials / print ads, can sell his own like of clothes / cologne / whatever on earth he wants, making money based on his name, image, or likeness. It's NOT supposed to be about 'collectives' and other such nonsense that has nothing to do with NIL and everything to do with paying players.

….Regarding Sayin: He’s all that right now. But QBs are really hard to project from HS to college, and lots of 5* QB don’t reach expectations. He might be the next Bryce Young. He might be the next Philip Sims or Ty Buchner or Perry Cuda. You just don’t know.
Wow, a Perry Cuda reference. Been a while.
Thanks for jarring the memory buds!

I agree, CA. That’s not what it should have been.

Unfortunately , that ship has not only sailed, but is docked in the destination port.

The only thing I see that can bring some sanity is a collective bargaining agreement.

Not what I would have wanted. But I don’t see an alternative that will both (1) stand up in court, and (2) be uniformly enforceable across all 50 states.

Conference rules would allow a LOT of latitude in this. But I think Sankey is waiting to see what the best move is as there are lots of things in motion all at once here.

I think it will be player-specific or possibly sport-specific. There is no way there is enough NIL money flowing around to payout to all sports to reclassify all of them. But I've been wrong before...
Title Nine will likely become a problem if contracts with the University comes into being. IMO, the NCAA negotiating with a players' union seems to be a better answer regarding multiple problems. It would allow uniformity among all members of the NCAA or whatever a group of colleges might form to deal with most of the issues at hand: transfer portal, NIL, scholarship limits, even scheduling, etc. But that may pose worse problems, idk.

In some respects, such as freedom of movement, the current college player has more freedom than the NFL player.

Maybe he still will be. He can still return to Bama. Maybe Coach Saban can convince him to stay, if he thinks Pritchett would be a serious contributor next season.
Yeah I don’t understand this one with Latham gone next year. If he was a contender for left tackle this year seems like he could slide over next year. Guess we’ll see
