Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

I believe CNS did his “one on one” interviews this week -where he talks with each player on where they stand, areas of improvement to focus on, etc.. We will probably see a few more mulling over decisions on transfers the next few days.

I’m beginning to wonder if we might be developing a situation where some of the players (ie TE, WR, etc) are expressing their frustration with lack of use in the passing game? A situation similar to Tua/Jalen? Let’s face it- some guys like Law, Niblack, Dippre, Benson, Preston, etc were significantly underused.

I think less than a handful of posters are "ready to move on" from JM compared to the rest just having an open discussion of reflection on the 2023 season as we look into the 2024 season. If JM can really improve aka "fix" the blindspots he has that are causing issues then I'm certain no one wants him sitting the bench if he truly is the best option. But if by the end of spring and summer he isn't the best option, then so be it. It's sports, not a support group for one's self esteem. The best guy needs to play.
^^^^ This ^^^^^^^

I don't think SM transferred because of anything a fan might have said. SM was advised to transfer for his own benefit. He needs to move to guard and he's not big enough to play guard for Alabama.
How do you know Seth was advised to transfer? Doesn't sound like Saban to suggest that to a two year starting OL.

How so? Snapping is on a player, you can't snap, throw, or catch for players, coaching wasn't a issue, are we going to blame Saban to?
Who else would you blame? CNS is paid millions to run this team. The buck stops with him and he allowed this hot mess to happen. JM improved over the year but as he did his opinion of himself also went up. Just look at how he acted after the AU game.

This, exactly. He's been on a college campus 30 months now. JM had 2 full years before starting to watch film, learn d formations, etc. That is all off field stuff that in no way requires playing time to learn. He had 2 years of time to work on his ability to throw timing routes with the right anticipation. Again, doesn't require PT to work on this. He's apparently had a QB coach for several years, yet bad footwork and mechanics are still impacting his accuracy. he doesn't appear to be able to quickly process information for on field reads, hence no RPO or true zone read options to take advantage of his potential as a runner.

I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong, but thinking that someone who hasn't really shown much, if any, improvement across all those areas in 30 months with the program, will fix all that in the 7 months before we start next season just doesn't seem likely.

I just wanted to mention that your opinion is in direct contradiction to CNS's statements on Nov. 30, 2023. Article and Video linked below (start at 1:14 in video):

“He’s also a good passer. He has become a very good processor of reading coverage and throwing the ball to the right guy. All these things have contributed to his transformation as a player, our transformation as an offensive team – the production that we’re getting from the quarterback position and the execution we’re getting from that position,” said Saban. “That has elevated the confidence of everybody on the offensive team.”

From a sports talk radio person in a rival state, the comments from one former coach talked about how Milroe looked confused much of the game, or he was not prepared for what he was seeing from the Michigan defense.
You could tell by the look on his face. He had no idea what to do. We needed LSU Milroe and we got Texas Milroe.

Yeah but he’s not…he didn’t.

Because there’s no other explanation. Bad snaps and poor QB play cost us a national championship this year. Do the math.

Add Ty Simpson deciding to return to that math. If the math didn't add up for Ty Simpson, he would not be returning...

Saban has already gone through a scenario of the previous years starter being the backup the following year, so he has experience handling that scenario. He also has a lot of insurance (Sayin and Lonergan) to exercise in case someone in the above scenario decides to bolt once the starter is named.

Exactly. Simpson staying tells us all we need to know. Either that or Ty is just extremely loyal and a great kid. More than one thing can be true…

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is proverbial "coach speak."

What is CNS supposed to say about him after "4th and 31?"

I think most of the coaching up of JM this year was to try to get him to be more confident. His games is riddled with indecision. It's so plain and obvious.

Even after the offense was changed to help JM, we still struggled mightily at times.

But CNS chose him and he had to try to support him and build him up wth confidence.

O line coaching has been terrible for the last three years. This includes all the linemen, not just Seth. If they don't work on drills for snapping the ball, then the coaching is worse than I thought.

Not what I asked. He stated that as a fact. I just wanted to know his source. How did he know Seth was advised to transfer?

There’s never going to be a source, other than maybe Seth himself. It’s pretty clear what happened based on…well, what happened…

LSU’s defense is so atrocious that I would give a team like Vanderbilt a shot at breaking 20. I honestly think the improvement by Milroe was vastly overblown because of bad defenses and one weird game vs Georgia. We were averaging around 24-27 a game all year
