I just wanted to mention that your opinion is in direct contradiction to CNS's statements on Nov. 30, 2023. Article and Video linked below (start at 1:14 in video):

“He’s also a good passer. He has become a very good processor of reading coverage and throwing the ball to the right guy. All these things have contributed to his transformation as a player, our transformation as an offensive team – the production that we’re getting from the quarterback position and the execution we’re getting from that position,” said Saban. “That has elevated the confidence of everybody on the offensive team.”

Exactly what BamaMoon said

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is proverbial "coach speak."

What is CNS supposed to say about him after "4th and 31?"

I think most of the coaching up of JM this year was to try to get him to be more confident. His games is riddled with indecision. It's so plain and obvious.

Even after the offense was changed to help JM, we still struggled mightily at times.

But CNS chose him and he had to try to support him and build him up wth confidence.

Zero information but for him to stay Saban may have told him THERE WILL BE an open QB competition next season and he will have a legit shot.
That's always the case. A starter always has to beat out the others during spring and fall camp. What you just said is how rumors get started. I take Simpson at his word. He likes it at Alabama, and wants to stay. I think he understands the situation, with Milroe coming back and Sayin coming with his great credentials. And he's OK with that, at least for now.

LSU’s defense is so atrocious that I would give a team like Vanderbilt a shot at breaking 20. I honestly think the improvement by Milroe was vastly overblown because of bad defenses and one weird game vs Georgia. We were averaging around 24-27 a game all year
I'd go a step further and say two decisions cemented the idea that JM was better when in fact they were just huge coaching mistakes:

Example #1: Freeze chose to drop 8 and only rush 3 on 4th and 31. It gave Jalen an eternity to choose his target.

Example #2: Kirby playing Jalen with 2 spies. Again, it game Jalen what he wants/needs in the pocket. TIME.

Now guess what both coaches would never do next time around?

Because there’s no other explanation. Bad snaps and poor QB play cost us a national championship this year. Do the math.
And poor blocking at several positions, poor blitz pickup, and checking to better protections. Fix those things, and that bad snap would have instead been a FG try to add to our lead and put the game out of reach.
I don't disagree with what you are saying, but there's plenty of blame to go around.

Seth's main issue was O line coaching.
There is a lot to consider in terms of snapping the ball in spread offense. There is a lot of movement on the defensive line and even clapping as occured at Auburn and A&M. Then he is dinked by contrary refs for raising the ball to get in position for the snap. Question how many times have you seen Milroe go down the line and communicate possible mismatches on blocking or get out of a play. Instead the offensive line waits internably for the snap count which disadvantages them greatly. Then after all of that the Center is jumped on for a low snap. I have never seen it as his problem alone but admit there were other centers who found the task easier.

the second was a good pass, but realistically, it still came out later than it should have and should have hit Burton a good 5-6 yards earlier before that S was able to get over and closer.

the first, I don't see the same way the guy in the video does at all. I see that as a called pass, from the go and that CTR was gambling that that formation would have TAM crash for the play action in run support exactly like they did. There were only 2 guys in the pattern, both running straight down the field. JM never looks to the middle or the other side of the field, so there wasn't a progression of reads because there's nothing to read (for the pass anyway). From the snap he's looking at Burton because that was the play called, and he made the throw because Burton was even.

He could easily double that first contract with another great year at Alabama. Insurance would cover the risk, and he could get more than $1MM to stay.

I said this a while back - he would be foolish to leave. There is almost no scenario in which he doesn't do better for himself by staying.

Agreed and he could very well be the 1st CB off the board and be at top 5 or 10 pick next year.

I can't help but think the injury to Seth's hand had a bigger impact than we know. Lingering effects of that could account for a lot of what we saw. If his hands are not ideal size, maybe it makes that injury more problematic. Just spitballing here.
There's also no denying that timing and snap count was off in various ways. Don't know who's fault that is exactly. Defensive players clapping was a bigger problem than it should have been. Coaching corrections needed??
Lastly, Saban clearly wanted to go bigger and stronger this year. Seth is probably as big and strong as he's going to get.

An interesting question to consider: Will TS still be the top-ranked contender after spring practice?
In NO way am I suggesting Sayin miraculously passes DL and TS to challenge JM during spring practice, but Sayin is going to be an incredible QB if about half of the stuff football experts see in him come to pass on the college level.

The question for Sayin is "How long does it take for him to 'click' at the college level?"

I think he has the brain of BY and the arm talent of Tua.

I don't think there's a Bama fan out there (well maybe a handful) that wouldn't like to see an experienced but IMPROVED JM at QB again next year. But the emphasis has to be on "improved."

The reason some are ready to move on is that the areas of improvement are so multiple and complex that some believe it's just more than he could ever fix in one offseason. And, speaking of experience, he's going to be redshirt Jr. I believe and this will be 4 years into the program and yet he's struggling to do basic, fundamental QB skills that frankly all the other QBs already understand more than he does.

There's one reason why JM won the position last year: his legs and his long ball. Teams figured that out eventually.

So Jalen has to be challenged to be a pro and really make up a lot of ground and be a QB who is equally dual threat at passing and running.
This is where I’m at. I’m pulling for him to be a complete QB. I like him a lot and his physical attributes are incredible. I just don’t know how high the ceiling is. I’m hopeful CNS will use the Hurts Tua experience to guide the situation because I think there are a lot of similarities between Milroe and Hurts.

O line coaching has been terrible for the last three years. This includes all the linemen, not just Seth. If they don't work on drills for snapping the ball, then the coaching is worse than I thought.
And isn't that OL coach we hired from Kentucky supposed to be an OL whisperer? I've thought about that off and on all season.

Just love how so many threads can get derailed from the intended subject matter by poster/members opinion and agenda. I know it's technically off-season. I get that. Guess I'll have to go to 24/7 site to gather info on transfer activity.

My feeelings on the Milroe-Simpson debate were…public…to say the least. I would love nothing more than for Ty to be QB1 next year. I am dreading the thought of him going somewhere like LSU…
I have remained convinced all year that developing Ty would have led to a more effective QB during the season. Having worked with throwing mechanics for many years it is almost an impossible task to correct a lifetime of poor habits within a couple of years. Couple that with complete indecisiveness under pressure situations. Those who cling to the concept of all of that imroving significantly this summer should evaluate their basis for that. Obviously my opinion.

You could easily be right and I'm there with you. But the bigger news is how quickly we are ready to move on from Milroe, who voted 6th in the Heisman and now has a lot of starts. All QBs will improve over the offseason, Milroe is not going to stand still. Saban prizes experience - my expectation is that Milroe will start next year.
The media is the media. Play the players the media favors and teams go 6-6. The only opinions that matter are the coaches who are paid for their expertise to evaluate player potential.

Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins has informed the Rebels staff that he plans to enter the transfer portal, sources tell @247sports.

This year, he became the first SEC player since Herschel Walker with 15+ touchdowns in each of his first two college seasons.

This one surprises me

I am not ready to move on from JM...I am ready to see a QB who can read defenses, make adjustments at the LOS, and put us into the right play when necessary. I really don't care who it is...
I haven't seen one poster say they want to move on from Jalen as a person.

Everyone is saying they want him to be a QB that's capable of running the Bama offense. If that's what you are saying then we are all in total agreement.
