So if CNS indeed told Seth he needed to move to guard and was too small for a guard at Alabama, one would think he has a plan to replace him? From experience we know we need options besides James Brockermeyer. Not because JB isn’t capable, but you always need depth at center.

I am surprised by Arnold. He got a maybe late 1st round grade. I hope he goes earlier, but if he doesn't then he made a huge mistake.
From my perspective, late 1st means mid second. Theres 32 first round picks on a normal year and a hundred or so guys that “experts” claim are first rounders. All depends on what teams need.

Defense is going to take a big step backward next year.
No way you don't get worse losing those two but Amos looked great out there when he got in.

He's 100% first round, potentially. Not sure if he's there yet, and I agree with you that he likely could have generated enough NIL to stay and develop, cementing his place in the first.

He seems like a smart young man, so I suspect this decision wasn't made in haste.

Oh well.

In our 4 losses in the last 2 years, we've been ahead in every one and lost to a 4th quarter drive given up ( either to lose or go to OT)...I want that defense back that leaves no doubt when we have a lead late....
MTAQ Defense???

I think less than a handful of posters are "ready to move on" from JM compared to the rest just having an open discussion of reflection on the 2023 season as we look into the 2024 season. If JM can really improve aka "fix" the blindspots he has that are causing issues then I'm certain no one wants him sitting the bench if he truly is the best option. But if by the end of spring and summer he isn't the best option, then so be it. It's sports, not a support group for one's self esteem. The best guy needs to play.
The "less than a handful of posters" have been wanting to move on since the Texas game but had to keep quiet and by some of their own admissions "eat crow." I will, as always, support whomever is named the starter and will not, under any circumstances, conduct myself as some have done this year.

In this day of football, all plays are being sent in via signal from the sideline for the most part. That being said, 90% of the checks or changes are also coming from the sideline as well. QB's are not ask to do very much at all from a pre-snap read perspective. Watch film of Lane when he was here running our offense. The checks being done were from him on the sideline and were done after he had a look from the defense. In essence, he was the QB. I'm not quite sure how much zone read CTR wants to run but yes Jalen needs to improve in that aspect and I think that may be the easiest thing he has to overcome.

In regards to Seth, I think the hand injury he dealt with all year may have contributed to the issues we were incurring on the snap this year. The center is task with indentifying the Mike linebacker and no it is not necessarily a LB it's who they identify and play off of. Blocking calls are made and then often times dealing with a 325lb nose guard comes into play. There's a lot of chaos ensuing on the LOS for sure. I hate it for Seth because he sounds like a very upstanding kid and I'm sure no one hated what happened any worse than he did.

This should be a very interesting off season until spring practice begins and the speculation ensues on who the starter is. Hopefully by the start of the season, we will know who has earned the position of QB and they will have a successful year. Of course 12-2, SEC Champs, and a playoff appearance seem to be very miniscule from the perspective of many. However, I also remember the days of the Mike's.
