I think Auburn or FSU would be at the top followed by LSU or Florida. Georgia is probably okay after adding Etienne.

So you are correct that there certainly are people that can play center and play the position well. But I'll put money that there are more people that can functionally play the other O Line positions than can functionally play center. How many plays do you see a guard or a tackle either completely whiff on a block, or just flat out get beat physically trying to make a block? It happens all the time....well the only job those guys have is to make a block....that's it, nothing else. Add making the line calls, and making a good snap to those duties....Add to that the NG is usually one of the bigger/stronger guys on the opposing D Line. It's hard enough to play the position while taking snaps from under center....adding the shotgun element to the equation makes it even more difficult. Obviously it's not an impossible situation because that are plenty of people that do it...but don't think for one second it's an easy position to play. I understand these guys are high level players, and they are on scholarship because of those talents...but those guys on the D-Line are on scholarship too. So while I was disappointed in the bad snaps throughout the year, I also know it's really not as easy as it looks....And it dang sure isn't as easy as a bunch of folks on this board make it sound....since I'm sure everyone on here that are taking shots at the guy have actually tried to play the position.....

So you can start researching now, all the CFB centers with SM’s experience, who had the kind of season he just had. I might check back in 2015, that’ll give you enough time to find a handful. Maybe.

You could tell by the look on his face. He had no idea what to do. We needed LSU Milroe and we got Texas Milroe.

I was suspicious that a lot of LSU Milroe was inflated by the poor defenses we played. Georgia was the one exception to that but Jalen also didn’t look quite as impressive against them. He had no idea what to do with Michigans zone because they took away the deep routes, contained his legs, and he mostly can’t hit the remaining plays in a timely manner.

I agree. With OM recently opening up the deep pockets for portal players…he’s just ensuring that he “gets his” too. Lots of players will do this to make sure that they receive their “market value” with their current teams…or they’ll get it from another team.

yeah - this could cost us a younger, possibly more talented guy. Haynes and Miller aren't going to want to be #2 and #3 without some real convincing from the staff.

I have a suspicion that what will happen is Roydell gets the start, but Haynes and Miller get way more carries. Roydell will be like a coach on the field.

I kinda feel the LSU game was always going to be more about how many times late that we could stop Jayden Daniels. Everyone who went to that game knew the best quarterback on the field was in gold, purple, and white and it wasn’t even close. The LSU defense maybe the worst SEC defense by one of the worst defenses I’ve seen at a major SEC program in a long time.

Tennessee to me was a far more impressive win than LSU.
